Every member is expected to compete for the club. We do not have the resources and are unable to accept members who join purely to get fit for other sports.
Every effort is made to ensure that new members are quickly integrated into the club. Emphasis is placed on enjoyment and participation.

Training

There are several Junior Groups in Swansea Harriers. Initially all new starters must attend one of the Development/Reception Groups: Swansea Harriers Primary Development groups for school years 5 and 6 train on Tuesdays or Thursdays at the Indoor Athletics Centre Swansea University. The session times are from 4.45pm to 6.15pm for athletes who are in school year 5 and above. The Comprehensive Development Group for school years 7, 8 & 9 trains Thursdays from 7.30pm to 8.45pm. All groups cover all athletics events and initially focus on skill development rather than fitness. All new starters can have up to 4 trial visits, after this if they wish to continue they are expected to join and compete for Swansea Harriers when selected. Training Subs must be paid on arrival at the Club Cafe where all athletes will have their hands stamped as proof of purchase. Athletes arriving without training subs will not be permitted to train. Subs must be paid before training sessions begin. All athletes must enter and exit the outdoor track via the gate at the start finish line.
