Coronavirus (COVID19) Update Three 28th March

Firstly and most importantly, how is everyone getting on? We are a community club and its so important to keep in touch to support each other during this time. If you need something, just want to talk or get in touch with one of your team mates, coaches or anyone else, don't be shy, just ask and we'll do our best to make it happen. We are here to help.

Moving forward we will post weekly updates to keep you informed of what is happening in the club:

Coaching & Competition:

In line with the vast majority of other sports governing bodies Welsh Athletics have EXTENDED THE SUSPENSION OF ALL ATHLETICS ACTIVITY IN WALES TO THE 31ST MAY and ARE NOW MANDATING THAT ALL PHYSICAL COACHING CEASES, AND ONLY BE CONDUCTED VIA VIRTUAL MEANS DURING THIS PERIOD. You can read the full statement here.

As and when we find out if fixtures are cancelled or postponed details on the annual fixtures page are being amended.

Over the next 2 months we will be kept busy with plenty of lockdown challenges and tasks for athletes as well as volunteers. For starters here are the Athletics 365 online video support clips. This provides coaches and athletes with an extensive library of video clips covering each of the Athletics 365 challenges. The footage is designed to enhance coaches’ understanding of the various Athletics 365 challenges and how these should be delivered. Scroll down the link by clicking here, pick your favourite event discipline or any other agility, balance or coordination challenge and see how you get on!

Officials:

Christina Jones is our brand new officials secretary, who had/has the challenge of finding enough qualified volunteers for all our home and away league match officiating obligations. We can never have too many officials in a multi discipline sport. If officiating is something you'd like to help us out with when everything returns to normal, please get in touch with Christine on via email christina-jones@live.co.uk or 07784 011029 to be part of the team. In the meantime everything you could want to know about how to become an official and the qualifications involved can be found on this link. You can go all the way in officiating, read about Dave our most experienced official by clicking here.

Team Managers:

Our friendly summer track & field team managers are ready, waiting and itching to get started when we are given the green light to resume competition. To find out who your team mangers is, or if you just want to introduce yourself and say "Hi", you can find out who they are by clicking here.

Trustees/Committee:

We are very lucky to have such a dedicated, unassuming and experienced bunch of trustees. Don't forget we are officially a registered charity (number 1177846) and have been for just over a year. The trustees team do an incredible amount of unseen work in the background to run the club and make things tick, including an awful lot of paper work so you don't have to! Our trustees and officers can be viewed here.

Cafe Team & Fundraising:

Our Tuesday and Thursday cafe squad led by Ann Owen, do an amazing job raising funds year round, all to be reinvested back into the club, by selling teas, coffees and kit on club nights as well as at home matches. The funds they raise mean that we can keep the costs of membership, buses and hotels etc as affordable as possible for you and purchase much needed equipment. Now we have temporarily lost this for the next few months, did you know the club has an underutilized online easy fundraising account? This is an opportunity whilst in lockdown when you are shopping online, to raise funds for the club at the same time. We've only 24 out of close to 1000 members including our volunteers signed up. Please consider helping us out, so when we return to normal we can carry on where we left off. Sign up and raise money here.

Best wishes to you all, look after yourselves, and as we stated at the start of this article please get in touch if you need anything.
