Results Round Up From Aberdare, Cardiff, Swansea, Birmingham, Stretford & Port Talbot

Sunday 4th August were the Welsh U13, U15 & U17 Inter Regional Championships held at Aberdare. It was amazing to see so many Swansea Harriers selected for their region of West Wales, who dominated the day to win 7 of the 8 available trophies. Many congratulations to all those selected, individual highlights included overall winning performances set by:

Wednesday 7th August was the Run With The Wind 100m and 200m open meeting at Cardiff. Our overall top performer in each age group was as follows:
100m: SM Callum Davies (11.02); U17M Thomas Payne (11.04); U20M Steffan Jones (11.21); U15B Dylan Morgan (11.83); U17W Gabrielle Garcia (14.07)
200m: U20M Steffan Jones (22.05); U17M Thomas Payne (22.13); U15B Dylan Morgan (23.61); U20W Isabel Davies (27.42).

Thursday 8th August was the Versus 5k at Blackpill Swansea where our first runner home was 5th John Moran (17.32), also having strong runs to break into the top 10 were; 9th Steven Taylor (18.15) and 10th Sam Joseph (18.19), well done to all those who represented the club, click here for the full results.
The weekend of Saturday 10th & Sunday 11th August was the British Masters UK Championships held at Birmingham. It was fantastic to see so many of our masters athletes in action. 
Men: MM60 Roderick Davies placed 5th in his 100m heat (15.01) and 5th again in his 200m heat (31.10) & 7th (4.12m) Long Jump; MM60 David Marginson was 5th overall in the 400m (64.25); MM50 Paul Flynn placed 7th in the 5000m (18.08.74) and MM75 Ian Bowles came home with three medals, GOLD (9.14m) Shot & 4th Weight Throw (11.22m) & GOLD (30.17m) Discus; & BRONZE (27.97m) Hammer.
Women: MW70 Daphne Marler came home with three medals too in the 100m BRONZE (25.96) & Long Jump GOLD (1.81m) & GOLD Triple Jump (4.36m) and MW60 Renate Prells (6.59m) Shot for 7th & (9.84m) 4th Weight Throw & 4th (19.62m) Discus & BRONZE (27.39m) Hammer.
Saturday 10th August was the British Milers Club at Stretford where SM Conor Smith runs (3.59.14) for 1500m; Dominic Smith (4.07.01); SW Verity Ockenden runs an awesome time of (4.12.26) also over 1500m to win her A race and U20M Elliot Lawrence runs (15.25.53) for 5000m, well done all, click here for the full results.
Sunday 11th August was the Port Talbot Multi Terrain Half Marathon held at Glyncorrwg. It was double GOLD for the club with Matthew Rees winning the mens race in (1.13.25) and Rachel Davies winning the womens in (1.27.05), Llinos Jones stepped onto the podium too in 3rd (1.30.49). Making up our top five men home were; 66th Rob Flaconer (1.40.20); 87th Brian Stevendale (1.44.31); 96th Simon Coombes (1.45.31) and 103rd Christopher Jones (1.46.48).
