Results Round Up From Stirling, Pontrhdydfen, Glasgow, (Margam Reservoir), Swansea & Margam Park.

Saturday 12th January was the main highlight of the weekend with SW Verity Ockenden and SM Kristian Jones was once again selected for Great Britain & Northern Ireland, this time in the Stirling Cross Country international V USA V Europe, where Verity placed 5th and 3rd British athlete Kristian finished 12th overall and also 3rd British athlete,  against some world class opposition, well done to them both on this awesome achievement!
 
Saturday 12th January was the Buff Trail 10km multi terrain race at Pontrhydfen. John Moran had a superb run for 3rd (38.41) in the 10Km and was followed home by 33rd Ryan Govier (45.41); new member Joanna Callan (49.11) having a great run for 4th female finisher overall and 126th Simon Coombes (52.40). Saturday 12th January U20M Joseph Brier runs (48.27) over 400m in Glasgow to finish a fine 2nd in the Scottish National Open Meeting.
 
Sunday 13th January was round 3 of 5 in the West Glamorgan Cross Country League held at Margam Reservoir, in what we believe was a record race turnout for the league, Swansea Harriers were well represented amongst the large field of over 500 finishers. Final results and league tables are unavailable at the time of posting here. We will report on these next week.
 
The weekend of Saturday 12th & Sunday 13th January were the West Wales Indoor Athletics Championships held at Swansea. There was another fantastic entry of 188 athletes from the club! The Championships could not have run without the help of volunteers in front and behind the scenes including track judges, timekeepers, starters, marksmen, field judges, photo finish, track staff, first aid, café, and parents on assisting duties on registration and other assisting duties. With 188 athletes taking part from the club, you can predict that there were plenty of medals won, so please give yourself plenty of time to read the list below!

Wednesday 16th January was the Afan Nedd Tawe Secondary Schools & Colleges cross country Championships, sponsored by Apollo Teaching Services, held at Margam Park. Fortunately the rain held off for the races and in soft underfoot conditions there were 443 finishers across the six races. Thank to all the PE staff for fielding teams, particular thanks all the volunteers who helped all but 3 of whom stepped in with less than 24 hours notice, the event would not of happened without their support. Gold medal winning team medals will be distributed next week to schools. Congratulations to those Swansea Harriers who won medals and gained selection for the county team to particiapte in Welsh Schools on Wednesday 13th February at Brecon.
Year 7G: GOLD Kaitlyn Jones & SILVER: Sophie Hartley-Green.
Year 7B: no medalists however Jack Gilbert was home first for the club in 10th.
Year 8&9G: GOLD Ella Davies & SILVER Mai Davies.
Year 8&9B: GOLD Aled Tumelty
Year 10 to 14G: GOLD Darcie Bass & SILVER Bronwen Stratton-Thomas.
Year 10 to 14B: no medalists however Iwan White was home first for the club in 5th.
