Bill Sweetman

It is with much sadness that Swansea Harriers learnt of the death of one of our Vice Presidents Bill Sweetman. Bills funeral will take place on Friday 6th February at Llanelli Crematorium, SA14 8BX (4pm) followed by gathering in Machynys Golf Club, SA15 2DG. Bill was a key volunteer for many years in the club, where after his retirement from work he trained and qualified as a Sports Massage Therapist and would treat our athletes several times a week on club nights, every single time as a volunteer. His expertise and likeable personality earned him the respect of athletes, parents, coaches and officials. Such was his reputation that within a few years he was asked to become involved with Welsh Athletics at their Championships and International matches such as the 2006 Celtic Games in Waterford Republic of Ireland in the image below. In appreciation of his services and likeable personality, Swansea Harriers made him one of only seven Honorary Vice Presidents. Bill was also a key volunteer for Gorseinon Rugby Club and as an organiser for the Gorseinon Food Festival. He was a true gentleman, always willing to help the club athletes whenever he could. Our thoughts and condolences are with his family and will be sadly missed by all that new him.
