Good Luck Harrison Walsh & Michael Jenkins In The World Para Athletics Championships In Delhi India

Very many congratulations and the very best of luck to both Harrison Walsh & Michael Jenkins from everyone at the club who look forward to seeing you both in the World Para Athletics Championships in Delhi, India. Both have been selected to represent Great Britain & Northern Ireland that get underway today. Harrison is in the F44 Discus and Michael in the F38 Shot.

Harrison after his professional rugby career was cruelly cut short when he suffered life changing leg injuries in a freak accident while playing a match in 2015. He set a new F44 world shot put record of 15.73m at the 2019 World Para Athletics Grand Prix in Grosseto, Italy. He has since picked up two international bronze medals the first in Poland at the 2021 European Championships, and then in Birmingham one year later representing Wales at the Commonwealth Games.

Michael is the F38 European Record Holder for 5kg Shot Put 17.14m, F38 European Record Holder for Discus 55.92m World Para Athletics F38 Shot Put Silver Medallist and Swansea Harriers all time Senior Mens 2kg Discus record holder with 57.92m.

Athletics has events for each of the impairment types that are eligible for Paralympic sport. Sport Classes are prefaced with “T” for track/jumping events, or “F” for field events.
