UK Athletics Level 1 Field Judge Qualification
- There is a UK Athletics Level 1 Field Judge Officials Qualification on Sunday 14th September 1pm to 5.30pm. Venue = N/A as online/virtual. £25pp to reserve your place and book click here. The club will refund you in full once your licence has been issued.
- The club is looking for volunteers to attend to help us fulfil our officiating obligations in league matches home and away in 2026 and to enable the club to be able to continue hosting open meetings, like the two we held this year.Swansea Harriers has a large team of very dedicated volunteer officials that help the club fulfil its commitments in all its league, cup and championship fixtures on and off track throughout the year. If you are willing and available to help at any of the clubs fixtures as a track judge, timekeeper or field judge for any home or away fixtures or any administrative role, we’d love to add you to the team. - Who can attend the course? Anyone over the age of 16 who is interested in Officiating within the field events can attend this four hour course (can be split across multiple days). This course will cover all jumping and throwing events as well as events for athletes with a disability including seated throws, Shot, Discus, Hammer, Javelin, Club Throw, Long Jump, Triple Jump, High Jump and Pole Vault.
What will I learn?
- To be able to follow a duty sheet
- To be able to list field events and the various roles covered
- To understand and describe Health and Safety issues in Field officiating
- Application of the rules surrounding field officiating
- Ability to present the result card accurately
- The level 1 Field Official course is an entry level qualification on *the Track & Field Officials pathway.
- Successful completion of the Level 1 for Field Judge will enable individuals to work with other qualified officials field judging at athletics events. What else do you need once you have booked on your course? To complete your license, you’ll need to have a valid DBS check cleared with UK Athletics. You can check your DBS status and complete the process by logging into the Welsh Athletics Member Portal Login, following the instructions below:
1. Click the link for the “myATHLETICS portal“
2. Insert your username (URN)
3. Once you have logged in you will see your personal details section. At the bottom of the first section shows the current status of your DBS.
4. Click on the appropriate link to update your DBS. Follow the on-screen instructions.
5. Upload a passport style photograph.
6. Complete the free online Health and Safety module.
7. Complete the online UKA safeguarding module.
8. Accept Welsh Athletics Officiating T&Cs and Code of Conduct.
If you have already completed the Safeguarding Tier 1 or Tier 2 module as a coach/leader or as part of another volunteer role in athletics then there is not the requirement to complete it again until your licence is due for renewal.
