Results Round Up

This week we have results to round up for you from World Road Running Championships in Riga Latvia, Cardiff & Elba.

Sunday 1st October in the World Road Running Championships in Riga Latvia Verity Ockenden had an awesome run representing Great Britain & Northern Ireland in the 5km road race where she finished in 8th place also breaking her personal best by 8 seconds to finish in 15.18. Congratulations Verity from everyone at the club!

Sunday 1st October in the Cardiff Half Marathon we had close to 30 finishers amongst the thousands of runners. Our top five Men and Women home were as follows:

Men: Matthew Verran 1.12.46; Craig Jones 1.18.01; Charles Walsh 1.18.46 and Daniel Morgan 1.20.20.

Women: Hannah Williams 1.23.43; Joanna Callan 1.24.01; Jemima Osborn 1.43.26; Tori Barry 1.46.45 and Nina Brocklebank 1.51.05.

Tuesday 3rd October was the Afan Nedd Tawe Secondary Schools & Colleges cross country development races at Elba Gowerton. In warm and windy weather 472 pupils finished the races over a flat and fast course. It was great to see plenty of Swansea Harriers members in action, including a few of our sprinters doing some over distance work too! The first five home from the club were:

Year 7 Girls: 2nd Gwennan Gruffydd (Gwyr); 5th Katie Harry (Olchfa); 8th Olivia Grey (Olchfa); 18th Rosie Jones (Olchfa) & 20th Grace Beard (Bishopston).

Year 7 Boys: 1st Isaac Mcadie (Gwyr); 11th Griff Jones (Gwyr); 13th Bo Cuthbertson (Gwyr); 20th Noah Richards (Gwyr) & 22nd Thomas Stevens (Gwyr).

Year 8 & 9 Girls: 1st Taylor Shelmerdine (Bishopston); 2nd Lyla Jonsson (Bishopston); 3rd Hannah Jones (Gwyr); 4th Hannah Sullivan (Bishop Gore) & 11th Tabitha Ventress-Brett (Olchfa).

Year 8 & 9 Boys: 13th Oliver Hale (Bishopston); 18th Mandikudza Mupita (Bishop Gore); 20th Ellis Bennett (Olchfa); 40th Thomas Davies (Bishopston) & 43rd Joseph Crocker (Bryn Tawe).

Year 10 to 14 Girls: 2nd Holly Humphreys (Gwyr); 3rd Chloe Hartley-Green (Bishopston); 4th Ava Davies (Gowerton); 5th Millie Pierce (Olchfa) & 7th Anna Williams (Bishopston).

Year 10 to 14 Boys: 3rd Tesfaye Shugi (Bishop Vaughan).
