Results Round Up

This week we have results to round up for you from Margam Park, Cardiff, Leeds & Caerphilly.

Wednesday 31st January saw over 600 pupils run in the Afan Nedd Tawe Schools Cross Country Championships at a very muddy Margam Park. With selection for the county team at stake for those pupils placing in the top 12 ready for the Welsh Schools Championships at Brecon on Wednesday 28th February. Very well done to all those who ran with the following Swansea Harriers breaking into the top 12.

Year 7 Girls: 1st Gwennan Gruffydd and 9th Elsie Brain.

Year 7 Boys: 1st Oliver Cobbold; 2nd Isaac Mcadie and 4th Bo Cuthbertson.

Year 8 & 9 Girls: 1st Lyla Jonsson; 2nd Darcy Gibbon; 4th Tabitha Ventress-Brett; 8th Hannah Sullivan; 9th Gwenna Rees; 11th Mia Rabaiotti and 12th Aimee Besley.

Year 8 & 9 Boys: 1st Osian Morgan; 5th Jack Griffiths; 6th Deri Jones and 11th Daniel Board.

Year 10 to 14 Girls: 1st Millie Pierce; 2nd Holly Humphreys; 3rd Chloe Hartley-Green; 5th Ava Davies; 6th Sophie Hartley-Green; 7th Anna Williams; 11th Imogen Mcadie and 12th Lottie Robinson.

Year 10 to 14 Boys: 10th Matthew Hines.

Very well done to all those who ran including all those sprinters, throwers and jumpers further down the field, who’ll go to any lengths for a day off school, click here for the full results.

Saturday 3rd February was the British Universities cross country championships in Leeds where we could find five results of our U20 and U23 athletes who were in action. In the short race Iwan White was 315th; In the Men’s long race Dominic Smith placed 32nd; Joshua Morgan 233rd; In the Womens race Bronwen Stratton-Thomas was 90th in the Long Course, and Megan Williams 62nd in the Short Course. Well done everyone!

Saturday 3rd & Sunday 4th February were the Welsh Indoor Championships for the U13, U17 & U20 age groups at Cardiff. There was a reasonable turnout from the club with over 50 of our juniors entered. Very well done to all those who took part, especially those who came away with medals:

6 GOLD: U20M Charlie Shuall 4.23m Pole Vault; U17W Matilda Quick 1.66m High Jump & 12.17m Shot & 5.24m Long Jump; U20M Sam Davies 1.98m High Jump and U20M Marek Warzocha 22.52 200m.

5 SILVER: U17M Oliver Philpott 3.33m Pole Vault; U20W Amy Beynon 2.83m Pole Vault; U17W Matilda Quick 9.05 60m Hurdles; U20M Evan Cole 5.90m Long Jump and u13G Poppy Brannigan 1.34m High Jump.

9 BRONZE: U20M Harry Newton 3.93m Pole Vault; U20W Rebekah Pratt 2.73m Pole Vault; U20M William Hawker 7.10 60m; U13B Oliver Cobbold 4.57.10 1500m; U20M Evan Cole 8.47 60m Hurdles; U17W Millie Pierce 2.20.63 800m; U17M Jeremy Young 5.78m Long Jump; U17W Sophie Taylor 4.88m Long Jump and U13B Dhruv Mummigatti 5.79m Shot.

Sunday 4th February was the ever popular Reverse 10 Mile Road Race in Caerphilly where we had three runners, in the Women Sharon Leech had a great run to finish 3rd in 1.10.17; Jennifer Roberts was 12th in 1.17.01 and in the Men Richard Sullivan was 87th, well done all!
