Results Round Up

This week we have results to round up for you from Armagh, Margam, Sheffield & Tregaron.

Thursday 8th February was the renowned fast Armagh International 5km Road Race in Northern Ireland where International teams from all over Europe and most of the best club teams in the UK are action. Representing Wales were 64th Jonathan Butler 14.29 and 84th Dafydd Jones 14.40 helping the Wales team to 5th overall. The Swansea Harriers quartet placed an excellent 6th overall with 24th Kristian Jones 14.04; 64th Jonathan Butler 14.29; 94th Jonathan Hopkins 14.44 and 146th Matthew Rees 15.06. Very well done to all our runners and to Jonathan & Dafydd on their much deserved Welsh vests.

Saturday 10th February saw us as the host club for the John Collins Gwent Cross Country League Round 4 of 5 at Margam Park. First and foremost thank you to all the volunteers who helped set up marshal the course and car park and take down at the end of the day, your help was invaluable getting the match underway all ably led by Meeting Manager club stalwart Brian Fox! The course was extremely challenging underfoot due to all the recent wet weather. Our pleasure/apologies (delete as appropriate) depending on your point of view to running in those conditions! It was great to see such a large turnout from the club considering it was half term, with some impressive individual and team results from our U15G & U17W in particular. U11G: Placed 4th in the league; 28th Molly-Mae Mcqueen; 33rd Sofia Morgan; 39th Tabitha Purton & 43rd Manon Coupe.

U11B: Placed 7th in the league; 19th Jenson Achilleos; 37th Finley Davies; 39th Theo Lewis-Wright & 40th Bowen Davies.

U13G: Placed 6th in the league; 29th Hannah Sullivan; 30th Lucy Li; 33rd Gwennan Gruffydd & 34th Darcy Gibbon.

U13B: Placed 7th in the league; 14th Oliver Cobbold; 21st Jack Griffiths; 22nd Isaac Mcadie & 34th Bo Cuthbertson.

U15G: Placed top of the league!!! 2nd Holly Humphreys; 4th Chloe Hartley-Green; 30th Imogen Mcadie & 33rd Tabitha Ventress-Brett.

U15B: Placed 10th in the league; 14th Osian Morgan & 10th Matthew Hines.

U17W: Placed top of the league!!! 2nd Ava Davies; 3rd Sophie Hartley-Green; 5th Hollie Lewis & 8th Anna Williams.

U17M: No Runners.

U20W: Placed 6th in the league;  9th Daisy Anderson.

U20M: No Runners.

Senior Women: Placed 4th in the league; 15th Joanna Callan; 32nd Iona Evans; 45th Kristy Smith; 56th Jenny Thomas & 88th Lois Woodward.

Senior Men: Placed 7th in the league; 62nd Daniel Morgan; 70th Patrick Tudor; 76th Ifan Lloyd; 139th Martyn Hughes-Dowdle & 150th Owen Davies.

The weekend of Saturday 10th and Sunday 11th February was the England U20, U17 & U15 Indoor Championships at Sheffield, where we had four of our juniors who attained the very tough qualifying standards were in action up against the very best of UK Junior Talent. The main highlight was a super SILVER for U15G Libby Hale in the 1500m coming home in a time of 4.39.64! U20M Charlie Shuall was 7th in the Pole Vault with a best of 4.10m; U20M Marek Warzocha made it all the way to the 200m Semi Final after setting a lifetime best of 21.94 in the heat and U20M Samuel Davies just missed out on a medal placing 4th with a lifetime best of 2.01m in the High Jump!

Sunday 11th February was the Ras Cors Caron Tregaron Half Marathon where we had three of our seniors in action; Caryl Edwards had a superb run to win the Women’s race in 79.05, and in the Mens Gabrielius Stuokus placed 8th in 1.22.32 and Christopher Jones 70th in 1.54.36, well done to all three on such great runs and times over a tough undulating course.
