Results Round Up

This week we have results to round up for you from Brecon, Birmingham, Lee Valley x 2 & Seville Spain, with one of our athletes being named in the Great Britain & Northern Ireland team for the World Indoor Championships:

Wednesday 14th February in the Lee Valley, London Middle Distance Open Meeting Darcie Bass runs a 4.45.07 over 1500m, well done Darcie!

Saturday 17th February were the 119th Welsh Cross Country Championships held at Brecon, where Swansea Harriers had another successful championships over another muddy course. Despite the clash with the half term holidays we still managed to get a big turnout of runners across all age groups. Thank you to all our runners, team managers and coaches who supported the day, below is our summary of highlights including an impressive team GOLDS and 7 individual GOLDS as part of our medal haul!

U11B was an incomplete team with 38th Tomi Jones.

U11G took team SILVER with the trio of 4th Poppy Brannigan, 5th Molly-Mae McQueen and 16th Sofia Morgan.

U13B took team BRONZE with the quartet of 8th Oliver Cobbold, 17th Isaac Mcadie, 21st Jack Griffiths and 27th Bo Cuthbertson.

U13G were 4th with the quartet of 14th Gwennan Gruffydd, 18th Gwenna Rees, 19th Darcy Gibbon and 24th Mia Rabaiotti.

U15B was an incomplete team with just 25th Deri Jones.

U15G took team GOLD with the quartet of Individual GOLD for Libby Hale! Individual SILVER for Holly Humphreys; 8th Millie Pierce and 24th Imogen Mcadie.

U17M no runners.

U17W & U20W took both team GOLD and team BRONZE courtesy of Individual GOLD for new signing  making her club debut Millie Gold! 5th Ava Davies and 7th Hollie Lewis. Taking the team BRONZE were the trio of 18th Anna Williams, 20th Jessica Hewitt and 22nd Isabelle David.

U20M was an incomplete team, but there was individual GOLD for Dafydd Jones!

Senior Women took team GOLD with the quartet of Caryl Edwards who also bagged individual GOLD, 10th new signing making her club debut Megan Williams, 22nd Emily Barnett and 23rd Joanna Callan.

MW35+was an incomplete team of just one, but Caryl Edwards took her 3rd GOLD medal of the day taking the individual title.

MW40+ no runners.

MW45+ took team GOLD with the trio of Helen-Marie Davies who also took individual GOLD, 4th Diane Brownhill and 8th Jenny Mcadie.

MW50 & MW55+ no runners.

MW60+ was an incomplete team but our one runner Sian Phillips took individual BRONZE!

Senior Men was 6 to score retained their title with team GOLD courtesy of 7th Dominic Smith, 11th Matthew Rees, 15th Daniel Rothwell, 16th Josh Griffiths, 18th Matthew Harvey and 24th Blair McWhirter.

MM35+ took team GOLD with the trio of Matthew Rees who also won individual GOLD, Daniel Rothwell who took individual SILVER and 5th Daniel Morgan.

MM40+ took team GOLD with the trio of Matthew Harvey who also won individual SILVER, Blair McWhirter who also won individual BRONZE and 4th Marc Hobbs.

MM45+ was an incomplete team of 9th Charles Walsh and 13th Owen Davies.

MM50+ was an incomplete team with just the one runner 11th Ian David.

MM55+ took team GOLD with the trio of Martyn Hughes-Dowdle who also took individual SILVER, 7th Geoff Robinson and 12th Heath Brett.

MM60+ took team GOLD with the trio of Ifan Lloyd who also took individual GOLD, 5th Steve Smith and 6th Paul Llewellyn.

MM65+ no runners.

MM70+ was an incomplete team but our one runner Alan Davies took individual GOLD!

The weekend of Saturday 17th and Sunday 18th February were the British Senior Indoor Championships at Birmingham incorporating the trials for the World Indoor Athletics Championships. SW Hannah Brier had a great weekend making it all the way to the final of the 400m where she placed 5th, her fastest time of 53,36 was set in her Semi Final, the on Monday Hannah was named as part of the Great Britain and Northern Ireland team for the Word Indoor Championships at Glasgow within the 4x400m relay squad!!! SW Carys Jones was our only other competitor and did very well too placing 9th in the Pole Vault final with a best of 3.86m, well done both!

The weekend of Saturday 17th and Sunday 18th February were the British Masters Indoor Athletics Championships at Lee Valley, London where M35 Evan Milward was 4th in his heat of the 60m in 7.60, well done Evan!

Sunday 18th February in Seville, Spain, Dewi Griffiths runs a super fast time of 2.12.49 for 65th place, and behind him in 246th was Geraint Williams in 2.29.05, well done both!
