Results Round Up

This week we have results to round up for you from, Karlstad Sweden, Wrexham, Sheffield, Basingstoke, Albufeira Portugal, Kenfig, Llanelli, Lee Valley London and Birmingham, Alabama, USA.

Saturday 17th February U20W Hannah Kinane runs 2.12.82 for the 800m and a 4.33.91 1500m in Karlstad Sweden, well done Hannah!

Sunday 18th February Sam Joseph runs a 74.20 Personal Best for the Half Marathon in Wrexham, well done Sam!

Friday 23rd February until Sunday 25th February was the British Universities Indoor Championships at Sheffield where eleven of our U20 & U23 athletes were competing. William Hawker picked up a BRONZE in the 4 x 200m, Joshua Morgan ran 9.45.26 in his 3000m heat, Bronwen Stratton-Thomas set a personal best of 10.18.68 in the final of the 3000m,  Eniola Adedotun made it to the 60m Semi Final after recording 6.98 in his heat, Jack Houghton jumped 5.84m is his Long Jump pool,  Kelvin Nti Tannor run 7.13 is his 60m heat, Lauryn Davey was 8th in the Long Jump final with a best of 5.54m and ran 8.88 for her 60m Hurdles heat, Luisa von Schnitzler leap out to 10.16m in her Triple Jump pool, Megan Morris was 7th the Pole Vault final with 2.93m, Victoria Ovie jumped 4.81m in her Long Jump pool, Youssef Rabhi ran 23.71 in his 200m heat and Gwennan Lewis threw 9.38m in the shot. Saturday 24th February Phoebe Brown throws the Javelin out to 41.07m close to her lifetime best at Basingstoke, well done Phoebe!

Sunday 25th February was the European Clubs Cross Country Championships in Albuferia Portugal where Swansea Harriers Senior Men were representing Wales and the UK up against the very best clubs in Europe, of which we are one! The team did extremely well to place 20th over a fast course, with great underfoot conditions and lovely weather (unlike here). Very many congratulations to 49th Dafydd Jones, 73rd Joshua Griffiths and 80th Dominic Smith, thanks also to Morgan James and Matthew Harvey who travelled as reserve and team manager respectively. Sunday 25th February was round 4 of 5 in the West Glamorgan Cross Country League Round at Kenfig Nature Reserve for our senior runners. Held over a challenging multi terrain course, there were well over 300 finishers. Thank you to all those who turned out to run for the club, our top 5 Men and 4 Women home were:

Men: having a great run to finish 2nd was Marc Hobbs, followed home by 13th Patrick Tudor, 29th Owen Davies, 31st Alan Davies and 32nd Martyn Hughes-Dowdle.

Women: Kirsty Smith was our first runner across the line in an excellent 4th, just behind was 5th Helen-Marie Davies, followed home by 16th Jennifer Roberts and 50th Sian Phillips.

We await the official results and how this will effect the league tables before the fifth and final round at Penllegaer Valley Woods on Sunday 24th March.

Sunday 25th February was the Llanelli 10km & Half Marathon. In the Half Marathon there was a fine win for Caryl Edwards in 1.16.21 in the Women’s race followed home by 34th Julie Hartley-Green. In the Men’s our top five runners home were 8th Michael Bryant 1.15.42, 9th Craig Jones 1.16.18, 13th Charles Walsh 1.17.09, 14th Andrew Cleverly 1.17.12 and 16th Daniel Newton 1.17.41. Over the 10km race Millie Throne was our only runner but had a great one to step onto the podium in 2nd in 42.18, well done everyone, click here for the full results.

Sunday 25th February was the British Masters Inter Area Challenge at Lee Valley London where W50 Diane Brownhill was representing the Wales team in the 800m placing 4th in 2.54.47, along with M55 Glyn Price had a busy day in the High Jump 1.40m, Shot Put 8.75m, Pole Vault 3.60m, 60m Hurdles 11.15 and 4 x 200m 2.04.26, well done both on those Welsh vests! Sunday 25th & Monday 26th February in Birmingham, Alabama, USA Sophia Harrison runs an 18.23.31 for 5000m on Sunday and a 10.40.55 for 3000m on Monday, well done Sophia!
