Results Round Up

This week we have results to round up for you from Brecon, Pontypool, Trafford, Newport and London.

Wednesday 28th February was the Welsh Schools Cross Country Championships at Brecon, the club was well represented with plenty of our runners most in action for the Afan Nedd Tawe school district and two for Cardiff & the Vale:

Year 7 Boys: just missing out on a medal was 4th Oliver Cobbold, 43rd Bo Cuthbertson and 69th Griff Jones.

Year 7 Girls: 25th Gwennan Grufydd and 30th Eliza Parry.

Junior Boys: 17th Osian Morgan, 21st Jack Griffiths, 48th Deri Jones and 68th Daniel Board.

Junior Girls: 33rd Darcy Gibbon, 46th Milly Harris, 53rd Hannah Sullivan 62nd Tabitha Ventress-Brett , 65th Gwenna Rees and 75th Aimee Besley.

Middle Boys: 56th Matthew Hines.

Middle Girls: saw a fine win for Libby Hale in GOLD, Millie Gold was just behind in SILVER, followed home by 5th Holly Humphreys and 6th Millie Pierce, all four gained automatic selection for the Welsh Schools team to compete in Dublin, Ireland on Saturday 23rd March by finishing in the top six places, congratulations all! Also running well were 12th Ava Davies, 14th Chloe Hartley-Green, 40th Anna Williams and 64th Imogen Mcadie.

Senior Boys: No runners.

Senior Girls: having a great run for BRONZE was Sophie Hartley-Green and 7th Hollie Lewis.

Sunday 2nd March was the fifth and final round of the John Collins Gwent Cross Country League at Pontypool. Thank you to all our athletes, coaches and team managers who contributed to another successful season. Congratulations to all our teams and individuals, especially those who ended the season in podium places:

U11G just missed out on a podium position placing 4th in the league. First home was 7th Poppy Brannigan followed home by 9th Molly-Mae Mcqueen, 23rd Freya Cleverley, 41st Matilda Warchal and 49th Sofia Morgan.

U11B Ended the season in 7th place in the league, we had three finishers with 26th Jenson Achilleos, 51st Theo Lewis-Wright and 54th Tomi Jones.

U13G Placed 6th in the league. Our finishers at Pontypool were 29th Hannah Sullivan, 31st Mia Rabaiotti, 32nd Darcy Gibbon, 49th Gwenna Rees and 50th Aimee Besley.

U13B Ended the season in 7th in the league. At Pontypool we had two runners with 4th Oliver Cobbold and 10th Jack Griffiths.

 

U15G were the stars of the season taking the league title!! First home was 2nd Holly Humphreys and 4th Millie Pierce who also took first and second in the individual league tables, what a team! Following them home were 8th Chloe Hartley-Green, 27th Imogen Mcadie and 29th Tabitha Ventress-Brett.

U15B Ended the season in 10th in the league. At Pontypool we had just the one runner with 12th Osian Morgan.

U17W picked up a magnificent team BRONZE at the season end. At Pontypool Anna Williams was our sole runner in 11th.

U17M Ended the season 27th in the league. We had no runners at Pontypool.

U20W Ended the season 6th in the league. We had no runners at Pontypool.

U20M Ended the season 16th in the league. We had no runners at Pontypool.

SW Ended the season 5th in the league. At Pontypool first home was 19th Iona Evans, followed home by 62nd Diane Brownhill, 90th Jenny Mcadie and 122nd Sian Phillips.

SM Ended the season 7th in Division 1. Patrick Tudor was our first runner home in 40th, followed home by 110th Owen Davies, 162nd Ben Smith, 174th Heath Brett and 219th David Rees completing our scoring five. Simon Merrick came home in 232nd who hasn’t missed a league match in over 20 years, now there’s dedication to the cause!

Sunday 3rd March was the fast Trafford 10km where six Swansea Harriers were in action. In the Men Jonathan Butler broke the 30 minute barrier coming home 20th in 29.52, he was followed home by 101st Matthew Verran 31.52 and 259th Joshua Morgan 34.44, well done all!

In the Women GB International Verity Ockenden had a superb lifetime best coming home for 4th in a time of 32.01. In the Inter Area element of the match it was great to see two Swansea Harriers picking up Welsh Vests with 40th Megan Williams 35.51 and 105th Mai Davies 40.55, congratulations all!!

Sunday 3rd March was the Newport Half Marathon where in the Womens race Sioned Howells had a brilliant run to step onto the podium in SILVER medal position 1.20.51, followed home by 22nd Luticia Thomas 1.34.28, 173rd Tina Gabb 1.58.30 and 208th Daisy Anderson 2.00.48. In the Men first home was 80th Joseph Walker 1.24.31, 458th David Phillips 1.46.50 and 533rd Gareth Robbins 1.51.20, very well done everyone!

Sunday 3rd March SM Tom Morris runs 37.29 for 10km in London Olympic Park, well done Tom!
