Results Round Up

This week we have results to round up for you from Exeter, Cardiff, Loughborough, Newport, Aberdare, Pembrey & Merthyr Mawr, including a league win for the U17 & U20, yet another all time club record and one Welsh Record!

Tuesday 31st August U13G Libby Hale runs 4.49.01 for 1500m at the British Milers Club in Exeter.

Wednesday 1st September was the Welsh U17W & U20W Hammer throw championships held at Cardiff where U20W Cassey Grimwade won a Silver medal with a best throw of 45.86m and U17W Rebekah Pratt placed 6th with a best of 32.36m, well done both.

Friday 3rd & Saturday 4th September was the U17 UK School Games at Loughborough, this was an invitation only event where the top available 8 athletes in the UK were selected to compete in Barbarian type composite teams. The club had two representatives, who were U17W Chloe Jones who had a very successful day to win SILVER and break her own all time club record in the process for Javelin with a throw of 42.50m, congratulations Chloe! And U17M Aled Tumelty who won BRONZE in the Steeplechase with a time of 4:38.11 congratulations Aled!

Saturday 4th September saw our U13 & U15 team compete in the final round of the Youth Development League at Newport, the team rounded off their season by finishing 2nd on the day and also 2nd in the final league table. Our thanks and congratulations to all the athletes who represented the team at Newport as well as to all the team managers, coaches and officials who contributed, we look forward to a return to a full league programme in 2022. Saturday 4th September was the fourth and final Welsh Athletics 5km road race series at Pembrey Country Park. In a small field the club had just the four runners. Dewi Griffiths had a great run to finish 2nd in 14:53; Jonathan Butler finished 5th in a lifetime best of 15:30; Marc Davies was 14th in 17:24 and Gemma Seaman stepped onto the podium in 3rd in a time of 19:31. All four are off to Pembrey Country Park again this Saturday 11th September, where the club have entered plenty of strong teams in all age groups from U11 to Masters 55+ in the Welsh National Road Relay Championships, please contact your team manager for team compositions.


Sunday 5th September
saw our U17 & U20 team compete in the final round of the Youth Development League at Aberdare, where the team had a superb day winning the match and winning the league title! Just our luck the first year in many that we win the league there are no national finals due to Covid 19, so they will have to try and do it again next year! Our sincere thanks to all those athletes, coaches, team managers and officials who contributed to such a successful campaign it is much appreciated! At Aberdare highlights included:

Saturday 4th September was the 7.5 mile Multi Terrain Rabbit Run Race at Merthyr Mawr, incorporating the Welsh Multi Terrain Championships where M55 Thomas Guest had a great run to finish in 9th, well done Thomas!

Tuesday 7th September was the Aberdare throws only open meeting where SW Lauryn Davey threw 10.89m in the Shot; in the discus the following marks were recorded U15B Lewie Jones 40.81m; U17W Lucy Harris 32.56m; U17W Katie Lake 27.23m; in the hammer throw U20W Cassey Grimwade 46.85m; U17W Rebekah Pratt 32.63m and in the Javelin U17M Macsen Holland 38.79m; U15B Lewie Jones 55.75m and SW Lauryn Davey 38.26m. Well done everyone!
