This week we have results to round up for you from Cardiff, Swansea, Birmingham, Guerledan France, Aberdare, Oordegem, Belgium and Yate. Plus another all time club record!
Wednesday 4th June was the Cardiff run with the wind open meeting, where our fastest athlete in each age group, event and gender were: 100m SM Eniola Adedotun 10.79, U20M Jenson Morris 10.90, U17M Jeremy Young 11.20, SW Stefani Karekla 13.22. 100m Hurdles SW Lauryn Davey 15.29. 400m U17M Matthew Hines 53.62, 300m U17W Olivia Morgan 43.67. 200m SM Joseph Beresford 23.30. Discus SM Harrison Walsh 53.01m and SW Gwennan Lewis 32.44m. Well done all!
Saturday 7th June we hosted round 2 of 3 in the U11, U13 & U15 Welsh Junior League at Swansea. The apoplectic weather forecast never materialised and a great days athletics was had with 133 athletes from the club competing. Thanks to all the volunteers, officials, coaches and team managers who made the day possible. Saturday 7th June U20W Millie Gold once again breaks her own all time club record for 3000m Steeplechase by almost 10 seconds at Birmingham crossing the line in 10.28.89, congratulations Millie! SW Darcie Bass was also there and ran a 4.37.01 in the 1500m, well done Darcie!
Saturday 7th June SM Joshua Griffiths had a fantastic run for individual GOLD representing Wales in the 26km Guerledan France Trail running international. Joshua crossed the line a super fast 1.52.45 and also helped Wales win team BRONZE, well done Josh!
Saturday 7th June was the South Wales throws open at Aberdare where U15B Roman Jackson threw 31.14m in the Discus & 40.52m in the Hammer, U20M Ben Fenwick 40.49m in the Hammer and M70 Chris Pruski 28.94m in the Javelin, well done to all three!
Saturday 7th June SM Joseph Brier runs a 47.24 for 400m in Oordegem, Belgium, well done Joseph!
Sunday 8th June was the Welsh Masters Championships at Yate where the club was very well represented by, W40 Bethan Froome who got her club debut off to a great start with a win the 400m with 1.10.92, M75 David Jones threw 16.25m in the 4kg Hammer and 13.14m in the 1kg Discus, W40 Katherine Morgan jumped 1.42m to win the Womens High Jump and won the Long Jump too in 4.54m, W40 Maria Kowal won the 5000m in 19.06.26, M40 Oladele Bamisaye had a great run to win the 100m in 12.19, M60 Peter Osborne ran 5.42.83 in the 1500m & 12.14.44 in the 3000m, M65 Roderick Davies had a best of 3.50m in the Long Jump and 16.23 in the 100m, M65 Wynn Howe had a busy day winning gold in all six events where he threw 25.81m in the 5kg Hammer, 33.17m in the 1kg Discus, 30.67m in the 600g Javelin and leapt out to 3.99m in the Long Jump & 8.89m in the Triple Jump and ran 15.70 in the 100m and M70 Chris Pruski won the Javelin with a best of 29.58m with the 500g. Well done on such a great set of results, showing that they’ve all still got it! Whilst masters participation in off track events is massive, for track & field is not as much participated in, but there’s plenty of opportunities to get involved and give it a go. Sunday 8th June was the Swansea Half Marathon where in a field of 5,700+ finishers there were over 30 Swansea Harriers. Our top 5 Men and Women home were. In the Men Dewi Griffiths had another fine run for 2nd in 1.05.04 followed home by 9th Matthew Rees 1.09.34, 65th Craig Jones 1.16.48, 72nd Alfie Robinson 1.17.18 pictured below with his dad Geoff and sister Lottie and 92nd Steven Taylor 1.19.42. In the Women Emily Marchant had a great run too for 6th place in 1.15.37, followed by 63rd Tori Barry 1.29.00, 73rd Ashleigh Willis 1.30.30, 76th Lucy Richards 1.31.01 and 77th Helen-Marie Davies 1.31.03. Well done everyone!
