This week we have plenty of results to catch up on and round up for you from Birmingham, Cardiff x 3, London x 2, Derby. Merthyr Mawr, The Lake District, Swindon & Aberdare.
Friday 11th July U20M Lewie Jones throws the Javelin out to a big PB of 60.63m in Birmingham, well done Lewie!
Wednesday 16th July was the Cardiff Sprints Hurdles & Long Jump Open where out top performer in each age group and gender were as follows: SW 100m Hurdles, Lauryn Davey 14.96 & Long Jump 3.62m, SM Eli Onyewu 10.64 100m & 21.40 200m. Well done all, click here for the full results.
Saturday 19th July was the London Diamond League where in front of a full house of spectators SW Hannah Brier placed 4th in the National 400m in an excellent time of 52.38 and her brother Joseph Brier also in the Mens National 400m placed 3rd in a seasons best 46.07, well done both, what an experience in front of 60,000 spectators!
Saturday 19th July was the British Schools U17 International England V Wales V Scotland V Ireland at Derby. On a very wet day that made conditions difficult throughout in the East Midlands, it saw the top athletes from the home countries – Welsh Schools, Irish Schools, Scottish Schools and hosts English Schools. A team of 60 athletes were selected to represent the Welsh Schools Athletics Association which included eight Swansea Harriers who were all amazing: 6th Jeremy Young 11.18 100m & BRONZE, 4 x 100m 43.35 with Ruari Harris on lead leg 6th Matthew Hines 58.06 400m Hurdles , 7th Tyler Davies 3.05m Pole Vault, a superb BRONZE for Holly Humphreys with a 4.30.51 1500m, another super BRONZE came from Millie Pierce in the 1500m Steeplechase 5.06.64, our top performer of the weekend was SILVER medallist Ellie Dunleavy in the Pole Vault with a best of 3.10m, Lyra Roberts had a great 2.90m for 5th also in the Pole Vault 7th Violet Snelgrove 11.34m Shot. Saturday 19th July was the National Athletics League Senior Men & Women Round 3 of 3 at Cardiff, where another great result was had with the Women winning and the Men in 2nd therefore the combined scores made it a win this time again and a clean sweep of the league fixtures. The team now progress the National Promotion match at Oxford in August where they will be aiming to break into the Premiership for the top 8 tack and field senior clubs in the UK. Thanks to all the athletes, coaches, officials and team managers who’ve contributed to such a successful league campaign. At Cardiff individual highlights include top 3 placing overall for:

Saturday 19th July was the 12km Rabbit Run Multi Terrain Race at Merthyr Mawr, where over this notoriously challenging race in the 12km M40 Ake Fagereng had great run for 7th in 52,32 followed home by 51st U20M Daniel May 1.01.33 and in the Womens race 67th W60 Sian Phillips 1.18.49. Over the 40km distance we had the one competitor Eleanor Titley who in the Womens race finished 18th in 4.55.43, well done all!
Saturday 19th July SM Kristian Jones won the 29km Mountain Race at Sunday Crag in the Lake District, Kristian who has raced internationally for Great Britain multi terrain, mountain running, track and road, won in 3:06.23, almost half an hour ahead of second place, well done Kristian!
Sunday 20th July U13 & U15 Youth Development League Round 3 of 3 at Swindon, where the team had an excellent result for an away match coming home in 2nd place on the day and 5th overall in the league table. The team now have an anxious wait to see if they have done enough to retain their place in the Premier Division following the paper relegation match with the top teams in Division 1. Out thanks to all the athletes, coaches, team managers and officials who contributed to such a successful 3rd fixture. Sunday 20th July James Ledger runs a 11.73 for the 100m in the Stratford Speed open in London, well done James!
Tuesday 22nd July was the British Milers Club and Javelin open meeting at Aberdare. In the Javelin U15B Cynan King threw 32.27m, U20W Rebekah Pratt 25.80m and U17W Alice Prosser 25.24m. In the endurance races our top runner in each age group and event were:
800m SM Alfie Robinson 2.01.92, U17W Holly Humphreys 2.13.59, U13G Molly Mae McQueen 2.35.59. 1200m U13B Tomi Jones 3.42.23. 1500m U17M Osian Morgan 4.26.87 & U15G Zoe Thompson 5.30.27. well done everyone!
Wednesday 23rd July was race 3 of 3 in the SSAFA 5km series at Cardiff. We had 5 finishers all in the Men, with Morgan James coming home in 15.34 for 13th place, followed by 20th Christian Lovatt 15.48, 59th Steven Taylor 16.54, 164th Daniel Thomas 19.55 and 255th Jonathan Butler 39.29, well done all!
