Results Round Up
This week we have results to round up for you from Birmingham, Swansea, Catford, Magor and Exeter.
Friday 25th July to Sunday 27th July was the England Athletics Senior & U20 Championships. Incorporating the Senior Para Championships & CAU Championships at Birmingham. Three was an amazing three GOLD and two SILVER medal won from the ten Swansea Harriers attained the qualifying standards and entered amongst most of the very best track & field athletes in the UK.
U20M Charlie Shuall just missed out on a medal placing 4th in a PB of 4.55m. SM James Ledger won GOLD in the para ambulant 100m in 11.67 a second GOLD medal came from SM Harrison Walsh in the para ambulant Discus with 52.53m. U20W Matilda Quick won Heptathlon GOLD courtesy of a 26.23 200m, PB of 14.29 in the 100m hurdles, a 5.50m wind assisted Long Jump 1.67m High jump, 11.13m Shot, 29.74m Javelin, 2.35.41 800m her overall winning total of 4,965 was also a personal best. U20W Millie Gold won SILVER in the 3000m Steeplechase with a 10.33.79. SM Samuel Davies won SILVER in the High Jump with a best of 2.08m!!
SW Carys Jones was 7th in the Pole Vault final with 3.50m, SM Eli Onyewu was 4th in his 200m heat in 22.01, SM Eniola Adedotun ran a PB of 10.66 for the 100m placing 3rd in his heat, U20M Jenson Morris ran 11.35 in his 100m heat and 22.83 in his 200m for 6th, SW Lauryn Davey was 4th in her 100m Hurdles heat in 15.00 and U20W Lucy Harris was 5th in the Discus with 40.27m. Saturday 26th July was the joint Welsh Athletics and Welsh Schools Combined Events Quadrathlon and Pentathlons at home in Swansea. The first outdoor combined events to be held in Wales for a few years saw over 60 athletes compete on the day with a sprinkling of Swansea Harriers amongst them. Individual highlights included two medals U17W Tabitha Ventress-Brett who came away with the GOLD in the Pentathlon courtesy of a 1.32m High Jump, 13.41 80m Hurdles, 4.31m Long Jump, 9.16m Shot & 2.33.01 800m totalling 2570 points, and U13G Matilda Warchal who won BRONZE in the Quadrathlon with 1420 points courtesy of a 4.91m Shot, 13.28 70m Hurdles, 3.66m Long Jump & 2.43.64 800m We had no U15B or U17M competing but plenty of U13G & U15G where our top 3 finishers were: U13G Matilda as above, 4th Ruby Underwood 1281 points and 9th Freya Cleverley 1144 points. U15G 6th Hannah Sullivan 1996 points, 10th Eliza Parry 1550 points and 12th Rosie Jones 1471 points. Well done to all those who competed, click here for the full results.
Saturday 26th July U13B Tomi Jones runs 4.49.96 for 1500m to win his race at the Ron Hale open meeting in Catford, Kent, well done Tomi!
Sunday 27th July M35 Matthew Rees had a great run to win the Magor 10km crossing the line in 32.11, SW Sioned Howells had a great run to take 2nd spot on the podium for the Women in 36.39, followed home by 13th Iona Evans 40.18, 14th Lucy Richards 40.32 and 30th Millie Thorne 44.02, well done all!
Tuesday 29th July U17W Millie Pierce runs a 4.43.78 for 1500m in the Exeter British Milers Club, well done Millie!
