Results Round Up

This week we have results to round up for you from Birmingham, Carmarthen, Tonbridge and Aberavon.

Saturday 3rd & Sunday 4th August were the UK Senior Championships incorporating the trials for the World Athletics Championships held at Birmingham. It was great to see nine Swansea Harriers competing against the very best athletes in the UK. Para athlete James Ledger was 4th in the 100m with 11.76 and took a fine SILVER medal within his category! Joseph Brier made it all the way to the 400m final coming home 7th in 47.08, his sister Hannah Brier matched this placing in the 400m final too with a 52.29, Evan Cole was 7th in his 110m Hurdles heat with 15.35, Caryl Moore had a great run for 5th in the 400m Hurdles final with a 60.64, Samuel Davies was 5th in the High Jump final with a best of 2.05m, Carys Jones was 9th in the Pole Vault final with 3.65m. Michael Jenkins won GOLD in the Para Shot with a big PB of 17.94m in the Shot, he also just missed a medal in the Discus with a best of 55.65m, Harrison Walsh won SILVER in the Para Discus with a best of 54.04m. Well done everyone on such a great set of results!

Saturday 3rd August was the third and final fixture of the Welsh U11 U13 & U15 League at Carmarthen. Despite missing many athletes due to holidays it proved to be a successful day with the team winning the league!

Thank you to all the athletes, team managers, coaches and officials who have contributed to this great set of results, it was an all round superb team effort. Individual highlights included our top performer in each age group and event as follows:

Tuesday 5th August U13B Tomi Jones runs 4.45.06 for 1500m to be the first U13B home in the Tonbridge open meeting, well done Tomi!

Wednesday 6th August was race 2 of 3 in the Run 4 All Neath 5km series at Aberavon, we had four runners taking part with 34th Paul Llewllyn crossing the line first for the club in 19.34, followed by 39th Steve Smith 20.20, 42nd Catrin Davies 20.34 and 49th Peter Osborne 20.55, well done all!
