Results Round Up

This week we have results to round up for you from, Tampere Finland, Birmingham, Hexham, Oordegem, Belgium, Swansea, Trafford, Caernarfon & Aberdare, including two more all time club records!

Friday 8th August, saw U20W Millie Gold put in an incredible run for her debut in the Great Britain & Northern Ireland team at the European U20 Athletics Championships in Tampere, Finland. Millie ran a big personal best and club record in round 1 of the 3000m Steeplechase to cross the line in 3rd in a time of 10.21.75! In the final Millie had another excellent run to cross the line in 7th 10.24.59 exceeding her ranking prior to the championships! Congratulations Millie you were amazing! Also running was another club super star Hannah Kinane Hannah lives in Stockholm Sweden, and was representing Sweden in the 800m, where in round 1 heat 3, despite placing 2nd in super fast time of 2.07.02, her time was not quite quick enough to progress to the final. Congratulations both on those much deserved international vests in a major championships!

Friday 8th August to Sunday 10th August were the England U17 & U15 Championships at Birmingham. It was great to see 4/5 of our athletes attain the entry criteria and compete against the very best junior in the UK. U17M Jeremy Young was 7th in his 100m heat in 11.45, U15B Oliver Cobbold was 7th in the 3000m final in 9.28.99, U15B Roman Jackson was 7th in the Hammer final with a best of 38.12m, U17M Matthew Hines ran 58.28 for 400m Hurdles, placing 3rd in his heat just missing out on the final.

Saturday 9th to Sunday 10th August was the EAP International Combined Events Meeting in Hexham. U20W Matilda Quick was up against some of the best Multi Eventers in Europe and beyond. She finished in 6th place with 4790 points courtesy of 15.46 100m Hurdles, 1.66m High Jump, 11.57m Shot, 26.63 200m, 5.70m Long Jump, 28.44m Javelin and 2.35.96 800m, congratulations Matilda!

Saturday 9th August in Oordegem, Belgium saw para athlete James Ledger run 11.76 for the 100m, SM Joseph Brier 46.70 in the 400m, Hannah Brier 52.36 400m and the main highlight was SM Michael Jenkins breaking his own all time club record in the discus with a massive throw of 57.92m, well done all!

Saturday 9th August was the Evans Family Swansea Harriers Open Meeting at home in Swansea. Our sincere thanks to the Evans Family Foundation for their kind donation towards the costs of hosting the event, and to all the volunteers behind the scenes and on the day who made it possible, it was a tough ask finding enough volunteers in the August School holidays so the event could go ahead. We hope all the athletes enjoyed, individual highlights included our overall top performer in each age group and event as follows:

Saturday 9th August Brychan Price- Davies runs a personal best in the 2000m Steeplechase at Trafford to finish 3rd in 5.59.62, well done Brychan!

Sunday 10th August it was a one, two for Swansea Harriers at the Caernarfon 10km with Dewi Griffiths taking the win in 29.28 and a course record to boot, and team mate Joshua Griffiths in 2nd in 30.51 also beating the previous course record, well done both!

Tuesday 12th August was the British Milers Club races at Aberdare incorporating a throws open for Hammer & Shot. Our top performer in each age group and gender were; U15B Oliver Cobbold 9.35.68 3000m, SW Darcie Bass 4.40.28 1500m, U13B Tomi Jones 4.54.13 1500m, U13G Molly-Mae Mqueen 5.16.04 1550m, SM Alfie Robinson 2.00.98 800m, SW Caitlyn Gwyther 2.29.57 800m, U15G Gwennan Gruffydd 2.43.67 1500m, U13G Sofia Morgan 2.50.44 800m, U15B Roman Jackson 40.67m Hammer, U20M Ben Fenwick 41.37m Hammer and U20W Efa Williams 29.18m Hammer.
