Results Round Up

This week we have results to round up for you from Battersea Park, Derby, Telford, Linlithgow, Manchester, Swansea, Dunedin New Zealand, Stratford & Lincoln USA.

Thursday 11th September Jac Hopkins runs a fast 14.44 5km finishing 14th in a top field at Battersea Park, London, well done Jac!

Friday 12th to Sunday 14th September were the British Masters Athletics Championships at Derby. Where seven of our masters were in action against the best Masters aged 35 to 100 in the UK, and came away with plenty of medals too! Here’s how they all got on in their age groups: M40 Oladele Bamisaye 5th 100m in 12.05. M35 Daniel Williams High Jump won BRONZE with a best of 1.60m, M60 Glyn Price Pole Vault won GOLD with a best of 3.60m, M65 Roderick Davies Long Jump 6th 6.53m, 100m 15.99 in his heat & 200m 8th in 32.52. M70 Chris Pruski 500g Javelin 4th with 27.65m, M80 Ian Bowles came away with 3 medals with a 7.72m 3kg Shot for SILVER, 1kg Discus GOLD with 23.13m, 3kg Hammer SILVER 29.88m. W40 Kath Morgan won SILVER in the High Jump with 1.35m. Saturday 13th September U20W Lucy Harris celebrated two wins at the Telford Games with 41.99m in the Discus and 9.58m in the Shot, well done Lucy!

Saturday 13th September new club signing Connor Rogers ran a fast 14.29 for 5km on the road in Linlithgow, welcome and well done Connor!

Saturday 13th & Sunday 14th September U17W Tabitha Ventress-Brett competed in the Trafford AC Combined Events Heptathlon in Manchester. Tabitha had a great set of results across the seven disciplines to place 4th with a total of 3669 points, courtesy of 13.43 80m Hurdles, 1.39m High Jump, 10.10m Shot, 28.52 200m, 4.13m Long Jump, 26.02m Javelin and 2.31.42 800m, well done Tabitha!

Sunday 14th September was the Swansea Bay 10km, 3km & 1km races, incorporating the Welsh 10km Championships, being at home where as you’d expect the club was well represented with over 80 finishers across the three races, which were thankfully done before the worst of the weather hit.

In the 1km Junior race saw a fine GOLD for Matilda Warchal in 3.35, following her home were 4th Amy Bezodis 4.24 and 5th Alba Hamilton making our top 3 home. The boys saw Max Rankin take the SILVER medal in 3.43, 5th Jacob Kihara 4.04 and 8th Oscar Barker-Smith 4.08.

The 3km junior race top 3 Girls & Boys saw a GOLD medal run from Jack Griffiths in 9.21, joining him on the podium was SILVER medallist Oliver Cobbold 9.25 and 11th Thomas Evans-Williams 11.40 making our top 3. In the Girls there was a SILVER for Lyla Jonsson 10.57, followed by 4th Gwenna Rees 12.17 and 5th Gwennan Gruffydd 12.20.

The main 10km race saw a very memorable race with the Men taking a clean sweep of the podium spots, wow! GOLD Dewi Griffiths 29.46, SILVER Joshua Griffiths 30.16 & BRONZE Jonathan Butler 30.27, well done Boys! Making up our top 5 Men were 7th Matthew Verran 32.14 and another new club signing Ed Slaughter in 16th with 33.16. In the Women’s race first home was 15th Emily Smith 39.25, 17th Luticia Thomas 39.44, 21st Mai Davies 40.37, 28th Chloe Hartley-Green 42.09 and 35th Kelcy Hooper 42.53. Slightly further afield Sunday 14th September Sam Joseph has a great run to take the BRONZE medal in the Dunedin Marathon, New Zealand in a time of 2.45.12.

Sunday 14th September SM James Ledger ran a best of 11.79 in the Stratford London open meeting, well done James!

Sunday 14th September Daniel Newton takes the SILVER medal in the Lincoln Marathon, USA crossing the line in 2.48.52, well done Daniel!
