Results Round Up
This week we have results to round up for you from, Aberavon, Lagoa Portugal, Telford Merthyr Mawr, Cardiff x 2 and Malaga Spain.
Saturday 13th December was the Run4All Neath 5km Santa Run at Aberavon where the sun shined on over 200 finishers in Santa Claus outfits. The club had two Santa’s in action finishing 2nd in the Men was U15B Oliver Cobbold in 17.04 and 4th just outside a podium spot in the Women Tori Barry 20.54, well done both! Sunday 14th December was the main highlight of the weekend with our very own Verity Ockenden a late addition to the Great Britain & Northern Ireland team in the European Cross Country Championships in Lagoa Portugal, where as great team performance from the senior women, showcasing the incredible depth in the women’s side Verity finished in 21st to help the team to SILVER, many congratulations Verity on yet another well deserved GB&NI vest!
Sunday 14th December was the Telford 10km, one of the fastest 10km courses in the UK run over 2 5km laps saw many of the UK’s best road racers taking part. Our Swansea Harriers present ran extremely well too with Men 8th Dafydd Jones 29.03, 27th Jonathan Butler 29.41, 37th Joshua Griffiths 30.04, 68th Connor Rogers 30.29 and 87th Matthew Rees 30.58. In the Womens race we had two finishers with 53rd Sophia Harrison 36.43 and 86th Lucy Richards 39.12. Very well done to them all on some super quick times. Click here for the full results.
Sunday 14th December was the Merthyr Mawr 10km Multi Terrain Christmas Pudding Race, this sell out every year is a multi-terrain race which is taxing and includes mud, rocks, sand, sand dunes, steep hills, tree roots, water, and more! Ed Slaughter had a fantastic run to cross the line in 3rd 42.31 followed home by, 11th Craig Jones 46.28, 15th Ifan Lloyd 48.09, 59th Heath Brett 56.13 and 67th Daniel Thomas 58.07. In the Womens race our top 5 runners home were 9th Llinos Jones 54.23, 18th Sharon Leech 1.00.13, 93rd Megan Jones 1.15.33, 94th Sue Peters 1.15.40 and 97th Deborah Matthews 1.15.54. Sunday 14th December was the Festive 10km at Cardiff held on the footpaths of Pontcanna & Blackwater fields saw four Swansea Harriers in action. First home was 13th Evan Price in 35.47 followed by new signing Andy McCall in 20th with a 36.3 welcome aboard Andy, the main highlight was a win for Millie Gold in the Womens race with a 36.53, followed by 5th Luticia Thomas in 30.10, well done all, click here for the full results.
Sunday 14th December was the Cardiff Metropolitan University U17 U20 & Senior Indoor Athletics Open Meeting at Cardiff incorporating the Welsh U17, U20 & Senior 3000m Championships. It was great to see so many of our on track athletes in action, our top performer in each age group and event were:
- SM Joseph Beresford 38.52 300m, Ryan Price 11.80m Triple Jump, Chris Lloyd 1.60m High Jump, Edward Davies 1.24.97 600m, Morgan James 8.37.52 3000m, Jacob Edghill 6.37m Long Jump and Leigh Walker 4.08m Pole Vault.
- SW Iona Hassanscott 9.18 60m, Darcie Bass 9.43.13 3000m & Welsh BRONZE and Lauryn Davey 3.63m Long Jump.
- U20W Bethan Holley 10.21m Triple Jump, Lyra Roberts 2.98m Pole Vault, Rebekah Pratt 2.53m Pole Vault & 9.91m Shot, welcome to another new signing Evie Aitchison 43.06 300m, Wunmi Etti-Williams 8.84 60m and Millie Pierce 10.18.96 3000m & Welsh BRONZE.
- U20M Matthew Hines 39.18 300m, Oskar Radka 10.55.96 3000m and Charlie Shuall 4.18m Pole Vault.
