Results Round Up
This week we have results to round up for you from over the Christmas and New Year Holidays from Deeside, Pisa Italy, Glynneath, Porthcawl, Clitheroe, Cardiff, Newcastle Upon Tyne, Mountain Ash, London x 2 and Kenfig.
Saturday 13th December U20M Ruari Harris travelled to Deeside for the North Wales Indoor Open where he ran a 7.26for the 60m, well done Ruari!
Sunday 21st December saw M40 Geraint Williams have a great run in the Pisa, Italy Marathon, to place an excellent 8th in 2.31.34, congratulations Geraint!
Friday 26th December was The Festive 5 Mile Boxing Day Race at Glynneath where a dozen Swansea Harriers were running off the excesses of the holidays. Our top 4 Men and Women home were, Men: 8th Finley Hines 27.47, 9th Sam Joseph 27.55, 11th Michael Bryant 28.08 and 13th Steven Taylor 28.43. Women saw our highest placed athlete of the day with Joanna Callan crossing the line in 4th in 31.25 followed home by 7th Emma Joseph 33.05, 12th Catrin Davies 34.12 and 56th Tina Gabb 44.06. Friday 26th December was the Porthcawl Boxing Day Run 6.5km, the route headed from the harbour towards the fairground before turning and heading up to Rest Bay and back again. First home for the club was Ed Slaughter stepping onto the podium for 2nd place in 19.49, he was followed home by 6th Evan Price 22.11 and in 16th Daniel May 23.03. Sunday 28th December was the Ribble Valley 10km at Clitheroe where before she heads off to the World Cross Country Championships in Florida USA (more on this next week) Verity Ockenden had a fantastic run to win the race in 32.18 and in the Men Jack Turner was 107th in 34.57, congratulations both!
Sunday 28th December was the Old Father Time 5 Mile Road Race for Masters athletes only at Cardiff. We had two runners who were neck and neck at the finish line in 22nd overall and first in his age category was M65 Ifan Lloyd 29.41, just ahead of W40 Maria Kowal in 23rd overall and also 1st in her age category 29.43, congratulations both!
Wednesday 31st December Verity Ockenden was in action again, this time in the Hogman Howay 5km race in Newcastle Upon Tyne where she had another excellent run to plac 2nd in 16.03, congratulations Verity!
Wednesday 31st December was the Nos Galan 5km road races at Mountain Ash, held annually on New Year’s Eve, celebrate the legendary Welsh runner Guto Nyth Bran and attract thousands of participants and spectators. In the Men’s race first home was Ed Slaughter in 6th crossing the line in 15.35, followed home by 24th Daniel May 16.56 with team mate shoulder to shoulder 25th Evan Price also in 16.56 and 44th Daniel Gurmin 17.32. In the Women’s race Hollie Lewis had a great run for 4th in 18.10, followed by 9th Sioned Howells 19.00, 14th Llinos Jones 19.53, 23rd Catrin Davies 20.41 and 34th Tori Barry 21.30. Thursday 1st January U15B Tomi Jones travels to the New Years Day Open at Lee Valley London where is his 400m debut he runs a 66.20, well done Tomi!
Thursday 1st January was the of Wales New Year’s Day 6km Multi Terrain Race at Kenfig Nature Reserve, took place on a multi-terrain course heading from Kenfig Nature Reserve West of the lake and complete an out and back route to return to the start. We had just the two runners both performing very well with Daniel May who had a great run to place 2nd in 22.23 and in action again and also stepping onto the podium in 3rd was Ed Slaughter in 23.01, congratulations both!
Sunday 4th January U23M William Hawker runs a 6.95 for the 60m at Lee Valley, London, well done William!
