Results Round Up

This week we have results to round up for you from, Sheffield x 2, Cardiff, Margam Park and Chepstow.

In addition UK Athletics have announced that The Power of 10, the UK’s most popular athletics rankings and results website, is taking a break for a couple of weeks and will be temporarily offline as it completes its transition to a brand-new digital platform. The website will be down until 26th January. This short pause is a planned and essential part of finalising the move to the new website. No results or athlete data will be lost during this period. Performances will continue to be collected and securely collated while the site is offline and will be fully visible once the new platform goes live later this month. Hence in the results round up below there are no links to the athletes personal performance profiles pages.

Saturday 17th January was the England (UK) Senior & U20 Combined Events Championships at Sheffield. In what proved to be a dominant, record-breaking competition, Matilda Quick opened her account with a win in the 60 hurdles. It was a lead she never relinquished, and her 8.69 clocking set an impressive tone for her day. It would be the first of what turned out to be one full of PBs: four in total, not to mention a Welsh national indoor Pentathlon record of 3943 points courtesy of a 8.69 60m Hurdles, 1.71m High Jump, 12.09m Shot, 5.82m Long Jump and a 2.34.43 800m. Congratulations Matilda on such an incredible performance. You can read the full report and see the full results from England Athletics on this link.

Sunday 18th January was the West Glamorgan Cross Country League Round 3 of 5 held at a very muddy Margam Park. We are awaiting the league tables but have seen the provisional results which show Men: where Marc Hobbs had a great run for 3rd followed home by 6th Patrick Tudor. 16th Ake Fagereng, 21st Paul Flynn and making our five scorers 22nd John Moran, we anticipate the team will be in the top 3 palaces of Division 1 when the league tables are out. Women: First home for the club was Kristy Smith in a fine 6th followed home by 45th Angela Delaney, 70th Caroline Morgan and 89th Stella Rae Hicks, with the team just one short of a scoring five, we anticipate they will still be towards the bottom of the league table despite the great efforts of the awesome foursome who ran. The team will be looking for a big turnout in the remaining two fixtures to try and avoid relegation form Division 1.

Sunday 18th January in the British Milers Club Indoor fixture at Sheffield Sophia Harrison ran a 10.13.57 for 3000m and Edward Davies a 1.56.81 for 800m, well done both!

Sunday 18th January was the Speedway 10km at Chepstow where our top 5 runners home were 18th Matthew Verran 31.36, 19th Matthew Rees 31.36, 38th Brychan Price-Davies 32.47, 85th Sam Joseph 34.22 and 96th William Ralston 34.40, well done all on a great set of times.
