Results Round Up
This week we have results to round up for you from Brecon, Loughborough, Tredegar, Glasgow, Newport, Trafford and Tokyo Japan.
Wednesday 25th February was the 63rd Welsh Schools Cross Country Championships at Brecon, fortunately the rain forecast stayed away and all races went well. Swansea Harriers had plenty of athletes running, mainly for the Afan Nedd Tawe School District, but a few too for Dyfed, Cardiff & the Vale and Glamorgan Valleys. Well done to all those who finished the races, individual highlights included our first runner home and top 10 placings for:
- Year 7 Boys, no top 10 placings but Nate Gibbon was 39th,
- Year 7 Girls: saw a fantastic individual GOLD for Molly Mae McQueen.
- Junior Girls: Zoe Thompson came home in 11th our closest to the top 10.
- Juniors Boys: Oliver Cobbold picked up a Welsh Schools vest by finishing in 4th an automatic qualifying spot.
- Middle Girls: Isabelle Lawley came home in 5th, just like Oliver qualifying for the Welsh Schools team.
- Middle Boys: Osian Morgan came home in 7th and will now have a nervous wait to see if he’s done enough to impress the selectors to pick up one of the discretionary spots for the schools international.
- Senior Girls were brilliant winning the team event helped by individual GOLD for Holly Humphreys, SILVER Millie Pierce, 4th Ava Davies and 5th Chloe Hartley-Green.
- Senior Boys, no top 10 placings but Oskar Radka was 34th.

Saturday 28th February & Sunday 1st March was the UK Winter Long Throws Championships at Loughborough. SM Michael Jenkins had a great day to win GOLD in the Discus with a best of 54.53m, F44 Harrison Walsh placed 4th with a best of 49.40m and Lucy Harris picked up a BRONZE with a best of 44.80m, congratulations all!
Saturday 28th February was the 5th and final round of the John Collins Cross Country League U11 to Masters at Parc Bryn Bach, Tredegar. We were again lucky to avoid the worst of the weather over a challenging course, it was great to see so many of our members out for the club to end the season. Thanks to all those who represented us over the season and to our tireless team managers getting so many runners out across the 5 league matches, here’s how it all ended in the leagues:
U11G had seven finishers with our scoring four of 9th Millie Coles, 21st Lara Joseph, 55th Fflur Prosser and 64th Isabelle Malough. The team did really well ending the season a very respectable 5th in the league.
U11B our scoring four runners were 36th Joshua Thompson, 72nd Beau Maddrell-Thomas, 73rd Keegan Beale and 92nd James King. The team ended the season in 19th in the league.
U13G had seven finishers with our scoring 4 of 2nd Mollie Mae McQueen, 13th Sienna Wooliscroft, 19th Ruby Harvey-Flinn and 22nd Elsie Davies. The whole squad were our main highlight of the season comfortably winning the league title, very many congratulations to the squad!
U13B was an incomplete team with 6th Tomi Jones and 44th Jacka O’Callaghan. The team ended the season 13th in the league.
U15G had nine finishers with our scoring four of 2nd Isabelle Lawley, 17th Zoe Thompson, 19th Lyla Jonsson and 21st Gwennan Gruffydd.
The team just missed out on a podium spot placing 4th in the final league table.
U15B our scoring four runners were 3rd Jack Griffiths, 8th Thomas Evans-Williams, 32nd Isaac Mcadie and 48th Felix Davies. Just as the U15G the team just missed out on a podium spot placing 4th in the final league table.
U17W & U20W was an incomplete team with two runners 9th Chloe Hartley-Green and 24th Imogen Mcadie. Our U17W were yet another team that just missed out on the podium with another 4th place in the final league table. The U20W team were amazing placing 2nd in the final league table.
U17M & U20M was an incomplete team with three runners 5th Jacob Williams, 7th Osian Morgan and 32nd Harvey Southam. The U17M team did brilliantly to end the season 3rd in the league table! The U20M team ended the season 16th in their league.
Senior & Masters Women: was an incomplete team with just two runners 109th Jemima Osborn-Nash and 126th Felicity Jones. The team end the season in solid mid table 7th place.
Senior & Masters Men: was an incomplete team with three finishers 164th Gair Mcadie, 188th Heath Brett and 199th Simon Merrick. The Senior Men manage to avoid relegation form Division 1 by a 10th place finish in the league.

Sunday 1st March saw U20W Matilda Quick do it again, breaking her own all time Welsh U20 Indoor Pentathlon Record surpassing the 4000 points barrier with a total of 4007 points at the Scottish Indoor Combined Events Championships at Glasgow. Her total came courtesy of an 8.69 60m Hurdles, 1.72m High Jump, 12.45m Shot, 5.88m Long Jump and a 2.33.66 800m, very many congratulations Matilda on yet another fantastic performance!
Sunday 1st March was the Newport Half Marathon in wet and windy conditions, plus a pot hole or two, where we had four finishers, first home for the club was M40 Steven Taylor in 1.22.37 for 71st place, followed home by 109th Charles Walsh in 1.26.09, 211th Simon Coombes in 1.30.15 and 13th in the Women’s race in 1.31.51 was Luticia Thomas well done all!
Sunday 1st March Morgan James runs a 30.42 to place 36th in the Trafford 10km, well done Morgan!
Further afield on Sunday 1st March Sioned Howells runs a 2.58.42 in the Tokyo, Japan Marathon to place 155th followed home by 5840th Tina Gabb in 5.13.14, congratulations both!
