Results Round Up

This week we have results to round up for you from Potchefstroom, South Africa, Cardiff, Birmingham, Swindon, Loughborough, Swansea, Brighton and Lake Garda, Italy.

Wednesday 8th April Joseph Brier clocks 45.93 in the400m at Potchefstroom, South Africa just shy of the Commonwealth Games B standard of 45.83, very well done Joseph!

Saturday 11th April was the Run With The Wind Sprints Open Meeting for U16 to Seniors at Cardiff. Highlights included our overall top performer in each age group and gender were U18W Harriet Young 18.81 100m Hurdles & 13.89 100m, U16G Rutendo Chasweka 13.22 80m Hurdles, in the Mens 100m three went under 11.00 with new signing Owain Lloyd-Hughes recording a 10.43 followed by Eniola Adedotun 10.56 and Marek Warzocha 10.94 and 22.10 200m, U18M Jeremy Young 11.18, SW Hannah Brier 11.53 100m & 23.70 200m, U16G  Somtochi Emenogu 13.24 100m & 28.28 200m, U14G Sienna Allen-Chaplin T38 17.06, SM Joseph Beresford 52.20 400m and U20M Jenson Morris 22.04 200m. Saturday 11th April was the prestigious National Men’s 12 Stage & Women’s 6 Stage Road Relays at Sutton Park, Birmingham. Both our Senior Men and Senior Women teams qualified after their performances in the Welsh Championships. Honours were even on the day with both teams placing a very commendable 10th against the best off track club teams in the UK. A huge well done to all our runners who competed, representing the club so brilliantly on the national stage. all legs are now run over 5.4km rather than the previous alternating lon and short legs. In the Men our fastest three runner were Leg 9 Dafydd Jones 16.08, Leg 11 Dewi Griffiths 16.10 and Leg 7 Jonathan Butler 16.22. In the Women or fastest 3 were Leg 1 Millie Gold 19.18, Leg 2 Darcie Bass 19.36 and Leg 4 Niamh Mcdonald 20.02. Click here for the full team and individual results.

Sunday 12th April was the Mark Cawte Open Meeting at Swindon. SW Rebekah Pratt wins the Shot with 10.09m, throws a PB of 41.28m in the Hammer, jumps 3.94m in the Long Jump, runs 20.34 for the 100m Hurdles and 22.91 for the 150m and U20W Efa Williams records marks of 23.81m in the Javelin a PB, a 28.97m Hammer PB and wins the Discus with 26.66m. Congratulations both!

Sunday 12th April was the Charnwood Open at Loughborough. U20M Ben Fenwick, SW Lucy Harris and SM F44 Para Athlete Harrison Walsh were all in action, there is a delay in field results, but when available you will be able to view them on this link. We look forward to seeing how they all got on.

  • Sunday 12th April Swansea Harriers hosted the Neal Merry Jumps Only Open Meeting at Swansea. Our thanks to Neal for funding the open in what is highly likely our only home event this summer depending upon when we hear the outdoor track resurfacing will commence and it is likely to take a month or two until completion. Thanks also to all the volunteers who helped out so we could put the event on, your assistance was much appreciated. Due to the weather conditions all events were held indoors. With almost 100 athletes from the club in action we can’t mention all, to summarise our overall top performer in each age group and event were:
  • U12B Carter Ray Harris 1.15m High Jump and Theo Morgan 3.73m Long Jump.
  • U12G Lara Joseph 3.70m Long Jump and Annie Blatchford 1.15m High Jump.
  • U14B Gabriel Leech-Griffiths 2.15m Pole Vault, Christian Nsozzi 1.45m High Jump and Max Burton 3.76m Long Jump.
  • U14G Lily Shubin 2.55m Pole Vault & 4.48m Long Jump and Matilda Warchal 1.20m High Jump.
  • U16B Elliot Lloyd 2.35m Pole Vault.
  • U16G Freya Birt 2.65m Pole Vault & 9.30m Triple Jump and Katriel Udoh 1.60m High Jump & 5.39m Long Jump.
  • U18M Mandikuzda Mupita 11.30m Triple Jump & 5.03m Long Jump.
  • U18W Lily Jayne Mitchell 9.55m Triple Jump, Tabitha Ventress-Brett 1.35m High Jump & 4.54m Long Jump and Ellie Dunleavy 3.20m Pole Vault.
  • U20M – no competitors.
  • U20W Matilda Quick 5.78m Long Jump.
  • SM Chris Lloyd 1.70m High Jump, Leigh Walker 4.10m Pole Vault and Roderick Davies 3.65m Long Jump.
  • SW brand new signing Lauren Hill 11.69m Triple Jump and Daphne Marler 1.52m Long Jump.

Sunday 12th April Abby Lewis runs an excellent 3.07.20 in the Brighton Marathon to place 12th Woman overall, amazing Abby!

Sunday 12th April a cohort of Swansea Harriers made the trip to the Lake Garda, Italy Half & Full Marathon races. Our top Man and Woman home in each race were Marathon Llinos Jones 3.19.35 and Steven Taylor 3.08.34. Half Marathon Mike Gleeson 1.28.49 and Helen Marie Davies 1.38.09.
