Results Round Up

This week we have results to round up for you from, Aberdare x 3, Birmingham x 2, and Brecon.

Tuesday 16th June was the British Milers Club Open 1 of 3 at Aberdare, where are top performer in each age group and event for Men and Women were, U23M Dafydd Roberts 51.2 400m, U18W Tabitha Ventress-Brett 63.50 400m, SM Alfie Robinson 2.0133 800m, U16B Sean Mu 2.15.14 800m, U16G Gwennan Gruffydd 2.29.65 800m, U14G Sofia Morgan 2.37.63 800m, U18M Osian Morgan 4.08.89 1500m, U18W Millie Pierce 4.34.45 1500m, SM Oskar Radka 5.06.85 1500m, U16G Zoe Thompson 5.08.77 1500m, SW Coleen O’Leary 5.42.09 1500m, well done all on a great set of results.

Tuesday 16th June was the South Wales Throws Open 2 of 3 at Aberdare, where U18W Evie Cooper had the best throw across all age groups with an excellent 60.03m in the Hammer, U20M Ben Fenwick threw a best of 39.31m and U1B Roman Jackson 37.42m, well done all!

Wednesday 17th June was the Loughborough Open Meeting where Lucy Harris had a second place finish in the Discus with a best of 44.87m and Bethan Holley set a lifetime best in the Triple Jump breaking the 11m mark with a 11.06m, also placing 2nd, congratulations both!

Wednesday 17th June was the British Milers Club Gold Standard Meeting at Birmingham where U18W Libby Hale ran a 4.38.85 for 1500m, well done Libby!

Saturday 20th June was the Welsh U12 U14 & U16 League West Division at Brecon. We had another fantastic turnout with 114 athletes making the trip to sunny Brecon. Our thanks as ever to all the small pool of volunteer team managers and officials who made the day possible, remember mums and dads it’s not against club policy to offer your help too! There were loads of personal and seasons bests set by the team, individual highlights included our overall top performer in each age group and event as follows:

Saturday & Sunday 20th & 21st June was the UK Athletics Seniors Championships at Birmingham where the very best of British talent was in action, including plenty of Swansea Harriers!

  • Day One saw Para athlete James Ledger place 5th in his 100m final with 12.61, we’ve never seen so many Men in the 100m from the club that was fantastic to see, Lewis Stephens 10.71 3rd, Eli Onyewu 10.98 7th, Freddie Steele 10.71 4th, Eniola Adeotun 10.57 3rd, Owain Lloyd-Hughes 10.76 7th, all ran superbly but it was tough to qualify for the semi finals, as you had to place in the top two in your heat. Samuel Davies set a lifetime best of 2.15m in the High Jump to place an excellent 6th in the final. Michael Jenkins just missed a medal in the Discus final in 4th with 54.92m, just behind was Para Athlete Harrison Walsh with a 53.82m, our hearty congratulations to Harrison too on his selection for the Commonwealth Games!! Joseph Brier progressed to the 400m final with a 46.13 in his heat for 3rd, Millie Gold was a brilliant 6th in the 3000m Steeplechase final with a 10.34.69  and Verity Ockeden placed 8th in the 5000m final with a 15.53.80.
  • Day Two saw Lucy Harris place 8th in the Discus final with 41.39m, Hannah Brier missed out on the 200m final by just 0.01 pacing 3rd in her heat in 23.42, Dafydd Jones set a lifetime best of 13.44.09 for the 5000m placing 13th in the final and Joseph Brier was 8th in the 400m final in 46.12.
