Results Round Up

This week we have results to round up for you from Carmarthen, Caerphilly, Birmingham, London & Aberdare.

Saturday 8th August was the final round of the Welsh U12 U14 & U16 League West Division at Carmarthen. Despite it being the August school holidays there was an excellent entry of over 80 athletes from the club. The team put in a fantastic shift to retain their league title. Our thanks to all the athletes who represented the club over the 3 matches as well as to their volunteer support team of team managers, coaches and officials making it an all round team effort. Sunday 9th August was the Caerphilly 5km Incorporating the Welsh Championships for Senior & Master Age Groups an elite 1 Mile race and 5km open race around the iconic Caerphilly Castle. Highlights included, In the Welsh Seniors 5km Connor Rogers had a superb run to pick up SILVER in 14.54, followed home by 7th Matthew Verran 15.33, 8th Paul Tobin 15.38 and 13th Oliver Cobbold 15.56. The Senior Women’s 5km saw Hannah Williams place a great 9th in 18.50. In the Masters 5km there was a fantastic win GOLD overall for M40 Marc Hobbs in 15.59 sprint with dip finish too, followed home by M40 Steven Taylor 22nd overall and 8th in his age group in 17.44, M35 Daniel Morgan was 38th overall and 11th in his category, M70 Alan Davies took GOLD in his category in 19.05 and 45th overall, M60 Steve Smith 20.42 was 6th in his age group and M60 Paul Llewellyn 7th in the M60 too with a 20.59. Sunday 9th August at the British Milers Club in Birmingham we had four runners in action, Hannah Kinane ran a 2.13.20 for 800m, Darcie Bass runs a 4.33.05 for 1500m, Brychan Price-Davies ran a 6.09.55 in the 2000m Steeplechase and Jac Hopkins an 8.18.71 for 3000m, well done all!

Sunday 9th August at the Stratford Speed Grand Prix at London, our Men’s sprinters were out in force where we have an embarrassment of riches this year, with their best times on the day as follows: 100m Lewis Stephens 10.61, Eniola Adeotun 10.65, William Hawker 10.73, Eli Onyewu 10.81, Freddie Steele 10.96, Marek Warzocha 11.08, T11 para athlete James Ledger 11.79 and in the 200m Joseph Brier ran a 20.96 frustratingly 0.1 m per second over a legal wind limit! Congratulations all on such a great set of results.

Tuesday 11th August was the Aberdare Endurance Open where SM Oskar Radka ran a 58.82 for 400m, W40 Bethan Froome was our fastest over 800m with a 2.35.71, followed by U14G Matilda Warchal 2.37.29, U14G Sofia Morgan 2.40.71 & U14G Sofie Cottrell 2.49.01, U18W Millie Pierce ran a 4.33.77 1500m and U18M Osian Morgan ran a 9.05.85 for the 300m, well done everyone!
