Saturday 22nd August was the Senior Men & Women Premier Division National Athletics League Round 3 of 3 at Eton, London. As anticipated it was another tough day at the office against the best club teams in the UK including opposition teams with several GB&NI athletes, the team placed 8th again so it was just the one season in the top flight and are now relegated back to the West UK Division for 2027. Our thanks to all all the athletes, officials, team managers and coaches who supported the team across the 3 rounds, it was a valiant effort and our athletes are very competitive, but will need to grow the squad over the next couple of years. The team will need to do it all again in 2027 by trying to qualify for the National promotion match, if they can finish in the top two teams then, gain promotion back to the top for 2028. At Eton individual highlights included top 3 placings overall by Michael Jenkins taking the win in the Discus with a 55.25m, Sophie Lisk 61.96 400m Hurdles for 2nd, Sam Davies took the win in the High Jump with a best of 2.11m, Jacob Parry 1.54.25 800m for 2nd and Brychan Price-Davies 9.21.09 3000m Steeplechase for 2nd. To end the day we have good and bad news that our Men’s 4 x 400m team who placed 5th excelled and exceeded the club record, but to be valid all athletes needed to be 1st claim members for it to be ratified, nevertheless congratulations to the quartet of Joseph Brier, Joseph Beresford, Steffan Jones & Jonathan Knox on their fantastic 3.15.50.
