Results Round Up

This week we have results to round up for you from Carmarthen and Swansea.

Saturday 19th September saw the joint Welsh Schools & Welsh Athletics Combined Events Quadrathlons and Pentathlons at Carmarthen. 14 Swansea Harriers took part, it could be a lot more as there are plenty of other versatile athletes in the juniors, that we will hopefully see next time. All those there performed excellently across a day of changeable weather. Highlights included

U18M brand new signing Aaron Campbell came away with a brilliant BRONZE on his club debut, not a bad start, amassing 2624 points from a 17.10 110m Hurdles, 5.44m Long Jump, 24.84 200m, 9.16m Shot and 2.30.62 800m.

U18W Tabitha Ventress-Brett picked up another medal this time BRONZE with a total of 2895 points from a 1.39m High Jump, 17.21 100m Hurdles, 4.79m Long Jump, 11.13m Shot and 2.28.40 800m. Lauren Oshisanya was 6th with 2447 points and Lilly Mitchell 8th with 2131 points.

U16B Isaac Maderia-Cole was 8th with 2076 points.

U16G Katriel Udoh won a great GOLD with 3301 points from a 5.43m Long Jump, 12.24 80m Hurdles, 8.62m Shot, 1.68m High Jump and 2.39.99 800m. Lily Shubin was 4th just outside a podium spot with 2458 points and Sofia Morgan 9th with 1903 points.

U14B No entries!

U14G Freya Cleverly had a great day to pick up SILVER with a total of 1535 points from a 8.12m Shot, 13.96 75m Hurdles, 3.31m Long Jump and a 2.45.72 800m. Ruby Underwood was 5th with 1309 points and Etta Blatchford 6th with 1308 points.

Sunday 20th September was the Swansea Bay 1km, 3km and 10km races. First and foremost congratulations and thank you to race director and Swansea Harriers trustee Nigel Jones who helped organised his 40th Swansea Bay 10k having given the opportunity of tens of thousands of runners to take part over the years, long may he continue! Our top five Men and Women home in all three races were:

1km saw a fantastic win for Alba Hamilton in 4.31, followed by 45th Ada Williams 7.34, 46th Camille Holness 7.43,  51st Amy Bezodis 8.11, and 52nd Rebecca Andrews 8.32. In the boys we had two runners with John Jones places 42nd with 8.17 and Joel Williams was 45th in the boys with 8.27.

3km saw a fine win for U16B Oliver Cobbold in 9.29, Carwyn Stock joined him on the podium in 3rd in 10.22, followed home by 6th Jacka Ray O’Callaghan 11.04, 12th Oskar Payne 11.30 and Theodore De Vos 14.07. In the Girls Olive Knutson-Watson had a great run for 3rd in 11.26, followed home by 5th Emily Evans-Williams 11.48, 8th Gwennan Gruffydd 12.11, 9th Leila Finney 12.21 and 12th Millie Coles 13.04.

10km saw a fantastic turnout from the club with our top 5 Men & Women home as follows. Men, having a great run to get into 3rd on the podium with another impressive sub 30 clocking and lifetime best of of 29.33 was Jonathan Butler, followed home by 4th Dewi Griffiths in 30.30, 5th Matthew Verran 31.31, 7th Jack Hurley 32.14 and 8th Ed Slaughter 32.24. In the Women Lutica Thomas had a great to place 6th in 39.07 followed home by 12th Emma Joseph in 40.26, 15th Mali James in 40.40, 18th Chloe Hartley-Green 41.28 and 21st Bronwen Stratton-Thomas in 41.18.
