Results Round Up

This week we have results to round up for you from Lake Vyrnwy, Tairgwaith, Cardiff & Berlin, Germany.

Sunday 13th September was the Lake Vyrnwy Half Marathon. The fast, one lap race starts and finishes in the village of Llanwddyn. The route runs clockwise around the picturesque reservoir in Powys, which was built in the 1880s. There were 814 finishers and amongst them two Swansea Harriers, M40 Geraint Williams had a great run to place 6th in 1.13.40 and SM Connor Rogers 22nd in 1.21.21, well done both!

Sunday 27th September was the West Glamorgan Cross Country League Round 1 of 5 at Tairgwaith, where we had an excellent turnout from the club of almost 20 runners. In the Men’s race it was a clean sweep of the podium places with Finley Hines taking the win in 22.50 over the 8km multi terrain course, Marc Hobbs was 2nd in 23.04 and Ed Slaughter 3rd in 23.43, making up our 5 scorers were 7th Daniel May in 24.24 and 11th Matthew Harvey in 24.53, when league tables are published we’d hope to be placed towards the top. In the Women’s race where the team will be seeking promotion from Division 2, after relegation last year. Our scoring runners all had great runs with Bethan Froome leading the team home in 13th with a time of 30.51, followed home by new member Samantha Summers 31.56, 28th Sharon Leech 32.58 and 88th Sian Phillips 38.56 just one short of a full team, they will need at least 5 finishers in each of the remaining races to give a chance of promotion back to Division 1. Thank you to all those who ran for the club, with those outside the coring runners absolutely vital to the team too, in preventing other teams accumulating so many points. The results file was too large to upload but can be viewed on their website in due course.

Sunday 27th September was the SportsShoes Podium Home Nations 5km and Open Race at Cardiff. In the Men we had two runners representing Wales with M35 Jonathan Butler having another superb run in a top quality field crossing the line in 6th 14.02, followed home by our other Welsh International Connor Rogers well under 15 minuities for 24th in 14.35 many congratulations both on two much deserved international vests. Paul Tobin placed 38th with 15.00 exactly, next it was 122nd Alex John in 17.34 and finally evergreen M70 Alan Davies 18.34 for 151st. Well done all for such good runs in top quality fields. Sunday 27th September saw W35 Emily Marchant have a magnificent run in the Berlin Marathon in Germany crossing the line in 2.34.27 a lifetime best and agonisingly 15 seconds short of our all time club record, congratulations Emily!
