Results Round Up

This week we have results to round up for you from Texas USA, Glasgow, Sheffield, Seville Spain, Bristol & Cardiff including another all time Welsh age group record.

Belated congratulations to U20W Macey Morris who back on Friday 14th January ran a 7.88 for 60m & 25.38 for 200m in Texas USA where she is now based for her studies, well done Macey!

Friday 18th February SM Kristian Jones ran a superb 8.03.92 for 3000m indoors at the Emerites Arena, Glasgow, well done Kristian!

From Friday 18th to Sunday 20th February were the British Universities indoor athletics championships held at Sheffield. Swansea Harriers were well represented with its U20 & U23 athletes competing for their university teams, here is how they all got on:

In the Men U23M Kelvin Tannor ran a 7.09 for 60m and U23M Mitchell Lawrence runs a 22.81 for 200m & 6.77m Long Jump;

In the Women U23W Hannah Brier had a great weekend winning her 3rd BUCS 60m title in 7.37; U23W Stefani Karleka 8.33 60m & 27.50 for 200m; U20W Darcie Bass 10.36.93 3000m & 4.54.29 1500m in the same race as U23W Georgina Annett 5.11.75 1500m; U23W Bronwen Stratton-Thomas 10.56.55 for 3000m; SW Lauryn Davey 9.11 60m Hurdles andU23W Charlotte Campion 10.47m Triple Jump.

Saturday 19th February saw a hardy handful of our endurance runners make the trip to Blaise Castle for round 4 of the John Collins Gwent cross country league. Where in gale force winds and rain in their respective races:

Juniors: U11B Isaac Mcadie placed 17th; U11G Ella Drew was 22nd and U11G Hannah Sullivan 24th; U13G Millie Pierce has a fantastic run for 3rd as did U13G Chloe Hartley-Green in 4th; U15B Sami White was 33rd; U15G Sophie Hartley-Green had a great run for 9th, followed home by 24th U15G Natalie Coughlan and 28th U15G Matilda Topliss.

Seniors: M45 Owen Davies was 148th; M45 Gair Mcadie was 170th; M50 Simon Merrick 239th; W40 Isobel Dawson placed 98th and 119th Jenny Mcadie. Very many congratulations to them all in persevering in such challenging conditions, with so few runners out league placings have slipped for all teams, however with us hosting the final fixture at Singleton Park on Saturday 19th March our turnout should quadruple at least!

Saturday 20th February SM Joshua Griffiths ran an incredible 2.11.34 for the Marathon in sunny Seville, Spain recording a qualifying time for this years World Athletics Championships and also rose up the Welsh All time rankings to 4th, well done Joshua that was amazing! Joining Joshua in Spain were M35 Geraint Williams who finished in 2.33.29 and M35 Ben Williams who ran a lifetime best of 2.34.34, well done both!

Sunday 20th February saw the postponed from 9th January West Wales Junior Indoor Championships Day 2 held at Cardiff. Despite the risky travel conditions there was a reasonable turnout from our juniors who came away with the following medal haul, well done to all those who took part gaining valuable competition experiences:

16 GOLD: U15G Matilda Quick 9.89m Shot & 9.75 60m Hurdles; U15G Libby Hale 4.35.94 setting another all time Welsh age group record which she held herself, well done Libby amazing! U15B Oliver Philpott 3.00m Pole Vault; U17M Harry Newton 3.90m Pole Vault; U13G Georgie-Bo Davies 5.32.68 1500m; U13B Oliver Hale 5.55.04 1500m; U17M Evan Cole 8.68 60m Hurdles & 5.67m Long Jump; U17W Megan Gwyther 8.99 60m Hurdles; U13B Sean Strevens 4.17m Long Jump; U15G Millie Pierce 2.31.73 800m; U17W Bethan Holley 4.59m Long Jump; U15G Seren Anderson-James 2.10m Pole Vault; U17W Amy Beynon 2.90m Pole Vault and U13G Jessica Arnold 9.09 60m.
