Results Round Up

This week we have results to round up for you from Birmingham x 2, Braga Portugal, Pembrey and Birmingham but the one in the USA not England….

Sunday 20th February M50 Paul Flynn had a good run to finish 40th in the European Masters Cross Country Championships, however he went much, much better a few days later on Thursday 24th February winning BRONZE in the 3000m in 10.38.27, congratulations Paul!

Sunday 20th February sisters Gabrielle & Millie Fakande competed in the City of Birmingham Indoor Athletics open meeting where Gabrielle Fakande recorded times of 7.99 in the 60m & 25.44 in the 200m, Millie Fakande ran an 8.11 for 60m & a 26.16 for 200m. Also there was SW Caryl Granville posting a time of 55.76 over 400m, well done all on such quick times!

The weekend of Saturday 26th & Sunday 27th February were the UK Athletics Senior Indoor Championships incorporating the trials for the World Indoor Athletics Championships. It proved to be a second consecutive successful weekend for Hannah Brier who won both her heat and the final of the 200m in a very fast time of 23.64 to become UK Champion, well done Hannah! SW Carys Jones also had a superb day placing 8th in the Pole Vault in a lifetime best of 3.90m, well done Carys!

Saturday 26th February were the Welsh cubs cross country championships for all age groups from U11 to Masters at a sunny but windy Pembrey Country Park. It was great to see such a large turnout from the club in the National Championships over a great course, here are your highlights:

U11B: We had four finishers with Thomas Maclean winning the BRONZE followed home by 24th Edward Lyle-Williams; 29th Ellis Bennett & 33rd Morgan Bond. The team placed 4th overall.

U11G: We had just the two finishers but there was a superb GOLD medal for Ella Drew and team mate Lily Stabler was 6th.

U13B: Was an incomplete team with 3 finishers, first home was 19th Daniel Board, followed by 25th Deri Jones & 33rd Jack Sullivan.

U13G: Saw our 2nd win of the day with a comfortable GOLD for Libby Hale, followed home by 5th Millie Pierce; 7th Chloe Hartley-Green; 35th Hannah Jones; 36th Gwennan Griffiths & 41st Eden Williams, the team did really well winning SILVER!

U15B: Had just two runners with 27th Gavin Alexander and 31st Samuel White.

U15G: first home was 5th Ava Davies followed by 15th Sophie Hartley-Green; 33rd Matilda Topliss & 36th Anna Williams, the team won a brilliant BRONZE!

U17M: we had a great turnout with 6 finishers, first home was 6th Thomas Attwood just behind in 7th was Morgan Willis; 11th Ben Sullivan; 17th Matthew Lewis; 19th Tesfaye Shugi & 21st Joshua Pritchard, which all resulted in team GOLD!

U17W: No runners.

U20M Finley Hines was our sole runner in 6th.

U20W: Sophia Harrison was first home in 6th and Bronwen Stratton-Thomas was 9th.

SM: won team SILVER with the team of 9th Dewi Griffiths; 10th Guy Smith; 13th Marc Hobbs; 14th Luca Cortallese; 18th Blair McWhirter & 21st Angus Maclean.

SW: won team GOLD with the quartet of 2nd Caryl Edwards who also won individual SILVER; 4th Kate Roberts who also won individual BRONZE; 12th Sioned Howells & 14th Carys Jones.

MM35+ won team GOLD with the trio of 13th Marc Hobbs who also won individual GOLD, 18th Blair Mcwhiter who also won individual SILVER & 51st Daniel Newton.

MW35+ no runners.

MM40+ 44th Matthew Harvey.

MW40+ won team GOLD with the trio of 22nd Llinos Jones who also won individual SILVER; 50th Lois Woodward & 51st Isobel Dawson.

MM45+ won team GOLD with the trio of 91st Charles Walsh who also won individual SILVER; 93rd Mike Gleeson who also won individual BRONZE and 106th Owen Davies.

MW45+ won team SILVER with the trio of 25th Helen-Marie Davies who also won individual GOLD; 66th Julie Hartley-Green & 82nd Tina Gabb.

MW50+ 74th Nina Brocklebank.

MM55+ Martyn Hughes-Dowdle won individual SILVER!

MM60+ Ifan Lloyd won individual GOLD!
