Results Round Up

This week we have results to round up for you from Aberdare, Swansea, Loughborough, Birmingham, Parliament Hill, Caerphilly and Neath including another club record!

Tuesday 10th May was the Cardiff Throws Open at Aberdare where U17M Lewie Jones threw a 39.73m Discus & 52.20m Javelin; U17W Lucy Harris a 35.74m Discus, M60 Rob Jones a 33.07m Discus and U17M Ben Fenwick a 23.80m Hammer, well done all!

Wednesday 11th May was match 1 of 3 in the Swansea Bay Summer 5km series where our seniors off track runners were out in force where our first five Men & Women home were: Men: having a great run to get onto the podium in 2nd was Daniel Otteson in 16:50 followed home by 4th Jan Steinmueller 18.01; 5th Ben Sullivan 18.06; 8th Tom Bacon 18.25 and 9th Anthony Jones 18.25. In the Women it was a clean sweep of the podium places with 1st Rachel Davies in 18.18 followed by; 2nd Sioned Howells in 18.52; 3rd Llinos Jones 20.03; 4th Helen-Marie Davies 20.22 and 7th Diane Brownhill 22.09. Wednesday 11th May U20W Carys Poole runs 28.22 for 200m and jumps 4.93m in the Long Jump at Loughborough, well done Carys!

Saturday 14th May U17W Hannah Kinane nips over from Sweden to run a 2.12.92 for 800m at Birmingham, well done Hannah!

Saturday 14th May was the Night of the 10,000m PBs incorporating UK Athletics Championships and World Athletics Championships trials @ Parliament Hill in London, two of our superstars were in action with GB Internationals with SM Kristian Jones placing 18th in 28.48.33 and SW Verity Ockenden placing 11th in 32.35.72, both these superb time weren’t quite quick enough to get into the team this time, but nevertheless were awesome performances, well done both!

Sunday 15th May was the Caerphilly 10km incorporating the Welsh Championships and our third 2022 club championship race, where first home for the club and in a new course record in windy conditions, by over 3 minutes was set by Dewi Griffiths in 29.39 well done Dewi! Dewi was followed home by 7th Ben Williams in 32.38; 10th Jack Turner 33.11; 30th Steven Taylor 36.02; 42nd Daniel Morgan 37.30; 43rd Alan Davies 37.32; 49th Daniel Otteson 37.48 and our sole Woman runner of Llinos Jones 10th in 40.44, congratulations all! As a result of this 2022 club championship race for our senior endurance runners, in the Women Llinos sits top of the league followed by 2nd Helen-Marie and 3rd Rachel, in the Men Alan is top, Daniel 2nd and Ben 3rd. Sunday 15th May was the West Wales U13 to Seniors Championships @ Neath, it was great to see so many of our members in action in a championship that included U13 all the way up to Seniors, and had all event disciplines on offer (except steeplechase). Firstly our thanks to all the volunteers from the West Wales clubs who made the event possible a major undertaking to get an event like this to happen. With well over 100 Swansea Harriers participating gaining invaluable competition experience and setting season and personal bests it would be a very long article to mention everyone! Therefore we will this time just highlight our GOLD medal winning performances set by:

SM Jack Houghton 58.36 400m Hurdles, Jan Steinmuller 54.15 400m, Chris Pruski 30.45m Javelin and Mitchell Lawrence 23.33 100m.

SW Sian Vico 61.82 400m & 26.63 200m a championship record!,

U20M Sam Davies 1.85m High Jump, Owain Clarke 61.04 400m Hurdles and Jacob Dowling 14.30 100m & 29.33 200m.

U20W Tiffany Rees 2.21.05 800m, Emily Collins 23.44m Hammer & 6.69m Shot, Chloe Jones 34.02m Javelin and Ella Davies 64.02 400m.

U17M Evan Morris 11.94 100m, Lewie Jones 12.10m Shot & 53.46m Javelin & 34.37m Discus, Evan Cole 15.26 100m Hurdles, Harry Newton 3.60m Pole Vault, Harry Collins 5.00m Long Jump and Joshua Pritchard 4.50.99 1500m.

U17W Bethan Holley 1.45m High Jump, Lili Wade 58.68 300m Hurdles, Sophie Hartley-Green 11.55.22 3000m, Megan Gwyther 11.90 80m Hurdles, Amy Beynon 2.90m Pole Vault, Liane Do Rouys 9.46m Triple Jump and Mai Davies 5.02.70 1500m.

U15B Oliver Philpott 2.35m Pole Vault & 1.48m High Jump.

U15G Seren Anderson-James 2.25m Pole Vault, Libby Hale 2.22.82 800m, Sophie Taylor 4.58m Long Jump, Matilda Quick 12.03 75m Hurdles & 1.61m High Jump & 11.38m Shot all three medals were also championship records and her shot if ratified equals our club record, not a bad days work, congratulations Matilda!
