Results Round Up
This week we have results for you from Cardiff x2, Birmingham, Cheltenham and Loughborough, including yet another all time club record!
Wednesday 18th May was the SSAFA 5km Road Race at Cardiff where our top three men home were 4th Matthew Verran 15.50; 12th Geraint Williams 16.05 and 13th Andrew Cleverly also 16.05. In the Women Kate Roberts was 2nd in 17.03 and Sian George 5th in 19.27, well done all on some great runs, click here to see how everyone else from the club got on.
Saturday 21st May saw three of our club superstars competing in the Birmingham Diamond League where several of the Worlds best athletes were in action. In what would of been a fantastic experience for them; SM Jospeh Brier had a great run to win the Mens B 400m in 46.21 in all British Field; SW Hannah Brier ran an 11.52 in the 100m B race to place 5th and SW Verity Ockenden was 15th in the 5000m in a time of 15.45.04, many congratulations to all three!
Saturday 21st May was round 2 of the U13 & U15 Youth Development League at Cheltenham, where there was a marginal improvement overall compared to round 1 with the team placing 5th, still very short of boys in both age groups. Our thanks and well done to all those members who supported their team mates and club making the effort to compete. Individual highlights included A string wins for U15B Oliver Patterson 2.08.3 800m & 10.98m Shot; U15G Ava Davies 4.53.0 1500m; U13B Sean Strevens 1.45m High Jump & 8.10m Shot; U15G Matilda Quick 1.55m High Jump & 11.15m Shot; U15B Oliver Philpott 3.25m Pole Vault and U15G Seren Anderson-James 2.20m Pole Vault. Sunday 22nd May was the Loughborough International where it was great to see three Swansea Harriers representing Wales against GB Seniors, GB Juniors, National Athletics League, Loughborough University, Scotland & England. Hannah Brier ran a fantastic 23.39 for 200m breaking her own all time club record set back in 2015, and ran a leg in the 4 x 100m, well done Hannah! SW Carys Jones 3.50m Pole Vault and SW Bethany Moule 48.81m Javelin.
Sunday 22nd May was the Cardiff Bay 10km where it was a close call with 2nd overall for Dewi Griffiths with another very quick sub 30 clocking of 29:28, followed by some more fast times from the seniors and young Vets(!) – well done to Jonathan Butler 31:27, Ben Williams 32:26 and Marc Hobbs 32:22 and 3rd in age category, all inside the top 20. Jan Steinmuller continued the good work with 36:14 and Owen Davies came through in 39:53.
