Results Round Up
This week we have results to round up for you from Birmingham x 2, Leksand Sweden, Cheltenham, Cardiff, Yate, Bedford, Nuneaton & Tenby.
Back on Saturday 23rd July SW Verity Ockenden ran a 15.55.20 for 5000m at the British Milers Club race in Birmingham, well done Verity!
Also Back on Saturday 23rd July U17W Hannah Kinane runs a 26.38 for 200m in Leksand Sweden, well done Hannah!
Wednesday 27th July was the Cheltenham Open Meeting where SM Mitchell Lawrence ran a 49.56 for 400m and U17M Lewie Jones threw a 52.91m for the Javelin, well done both!
Wednesday 27th July was the SAFFA Cardiff 5km where we had eight runners in action where first across the line was Dominic Smith in 4th recording a time of 14.57, he was followed home by 6th Marc Hobbs 16.23; 18th Matthew Harvey 15.59; 21st Matthew Verran 16.06; 34th Andrew Cleverly 16.41; 2nd Kate Roberts 16.41; 10th Gemma Tutton 18.44 and 102nd Joshua Morgan 19.40. Well done everyone!
Saturday 30th July in the Commonwealth Games at Birmingham, our congratulations goes to Dewi Griffiths on his fantastic run for 11th over a tough twisty & undulating route against some world class opponents eventually finishing in a time of 2.17.58! Then on Tuesday 2nd August Hannah Brier had a great run in round 1 of the 100m again some world class sprinters, to qualify for this evening 100m Semi Final. It’s fantastic to see the stadium pretty much full with a few supporters too from the club in the crowd. Saturday 30th July our U13 & U15 team produced a superb team performance to win the Youth Development League relegation/promotion match to retain their position in the Premiership for another season. Our thanks to all the athletes who made the trip to Yate, with as ever many participating in several events each, thanks also to the team managers, coaches and officials who contributed to this great all round team effort! In a great match against some great opposition there was a sprinkling of A string wins for U15G Libby Hale 2.15.78 800m; U13B Sean Strevens 1.45m High Jump; U13G Mandida Rushesha 1.36m High Jump; U15B Cai Allen 3.00m Pole Vault; U15G Seren Anderson-James 2.30m Pole Vault; U15G Matilda Quick 10.15m Shot; U15G Efa Williams 19.77m Discus and U15B Matthew Hines 19.86m Hammer. Well done to everyone again and we very much look forward to the Youth Development League fixtures in 2023!
Saturday 30th & Sunday 31st July were the England Athletics Senior Championships in Bedford. SM Lemarl Freckleton progressed to the 200m semi final finishing 7th in 21.74; SW Olivia Caesar made it all the way to the final of the 400m finishing 6th in 55.16 and SW Carys Jones was 9th in the Pole Vault final with 3.62m, well done all three on such a great set of results!
Sunday 31st July was the England Athletics Masters Inter Area Outdoor Challenge at Nuneaton that featured a Welsh Masters team that consisted of four Swansea Harriers helping the Mens team to 5th overall. Well done to all four on their performances and selection for the Wales team; M65 Roderick Davies 3.89m Long Jump & 59.65 4 x 100m; M55 Glyn Price 1.40m High Jump & winning the Pole Vault in 3.60m; M50 Peter Roberts 11.04m Shot & 37.25m Discus & 29.00m Hammer and M70 David Jones 6.36m Shot.
Sunday 31st July was the Tenby 10km where we had just the three finishers, having a superb run to win the Womens race was Sioned Howells setting a time of 37.17 followed home by 11th M60 Alan Davies 39.46 and U20M Ben Sullivan in 12th in 39.57, well done all!
