Results Round Up

This week we have results to round up for you from Munich Germany, Bedford, Cardiff, Neath and two all time club records in one at Liverpool!!

Friday 19th August club superstar Joseph Brier ran a brilliant opening leg split in the 4 x 400m relay of 46.58 in the heats of the World Athletics Championships in Munich Germany, to assist the team to a 3rd place and qualify for the final. Although not selected for the GOLD medal winning team on Saturday 20th, Joseph was still presented with a GOLD medal as part of the squad which was very much deserved, congratulations to Joseph from everyone at the club we are all very proud of your efforts, not only in Munich, but also in the Commonwealth Games and the World Athletics Championships!!! To compete in three global championships in one season is some CV and is forever cemented into our Hall Of Fame!

Saturday 20th August saw our Senior Men & Womens team put in a superb team result in the National Athletics League Grand Final Relegation match by finishing in 4th to retain their place in the Premier Division! 1st City of Sheffield 527.5, 2nd Glasgow Jaguars 513, 3rd Notts AC 457, 4th SWANSEA HARRIERS 453.5, 5th Newham & Essex Beagles 446, 6th Bristol & West 456, 7th Cardiff 394 & 8th Southampton 339. Our sincere thanks and congratulations to all the athletes, team managers, officials and coaches present on the day, you were amazing an all round team effort! Individual highlights included top 3 A string placings for 2nd Lili Church 1.63m High Jump; 3rd Jack Houghton 44.66 400m Hurdles; 1st Caryl Granville 61.39 400m Hurdles & 2nd 14.26 100m Hurdles!! 1st Patrick Swan 17.05m Shot!! 1st Osaze Aghedo 14.15m Triple Jump!! 1st Megan Carter-Davies 4.30.56 1500m!! 3rd Thomas Walley 6.68m and 3rd Bronwen Stratton-Thomas 8.18.45 2000m Steeplechase. Saturday 20th August was the Asics 5k International Road Race at Cardiff where we had two runners selected for Wales where Kate Roberts finished 22nd in the Womens race in 17.14 and in the Mens race Jonathan Butler ran 14.40 to finish in 8th place, very many congratulations to both on their much deserved international vests and performances. Also running in the open races were; Matthew Harvey 15.57; Matthew Verran 16.06; Andrew Cleverly 16.20; John Moran 17.22; Drew Bartle 18.14 and Joshua Morgan 18.09, well done everyone, click here for the full results!

Sunday 21st August at Neath was the U11, U13 & U15 West Division Open Meeting, with many of the athletes on holidays we still had a pretty good turnout. Thank you to Neath Harriers for hosting and to all the volunteers from all six clubs who made the day possible so all the kids could have a go at athletics, we hope they all enjoyed. Highlights included our overall top performer in each age group and event were as follows:

U11G: Somtochi Emenogu 5.17m Shot & 11.6 75m; Olivia Wood 26.6 150m and Gwenann Gruffydd 3.24.1 800m & 3.33m Long Jump.

U11B: Isaac Mcadie 4.96m Shot & 14.10m Javelin & 2.52.7 800m; Isaac Smith 2.72m Long Jump and Jacub Hacche 24.2 150m & 12.2 75m.

U13G: Mandida Rushesha 12.9 70m Hurdles & 1.25m High Jump; Levina Sexton 15.34m Javelin; Lily Stabler 33.5 200m; Dylan Palmer-Sweeney 13.98m Discus; Hannah Jones 2.47.6 800m; Eden Williams 3.22m Long Jump; Rutendo Chasweka 14.6 100m and Lauren Oshisanya 6.24m Shot.

U13B: Joe Crocker 4.26m Long Jump & 13.3 75m Hurdles & 1.35m High Jump; Jacob Davies 5.53m Shot & 12.79m Discus & 16.39m Javelin; Deri Jones 32.5 200m; Daniel Board 2.36.2 800m and Tom Davies 14.9 100m.

U15G: Ella Thomas 13.1 75m Hurdles; Holly Humphreys 29.8 200m & 2.38.1 800m; Efa Williams 19.17m Discus & 23.95m Javelin; Ashley Gibbons 4.22m Long Jump & 1.35m High Jump; Leona Bray-Davies 14.2 100m and Ava Davies 4.55.0 1500m.

U15B: Oliver Philpott 5.58m Long Jump; Oscar Jones 12.9 80m Hurdles & 12.8 100m; Henry Payne 27.6 200m; Tyler Davies 19.44m Javelin and Benjamin Griffiths 12.8 100m.

Sunday 21st August was the North West England Combined Events Championships at Liverpool where U15G Matilda Quick broke two of her own all time club records at once for the pentathlon & Shot amassing a total of 3044 points courtesy of a 2.43.61 800m; 1.59m High Jump; 4.64m Long Jump; 11.88m Shot & 12.03m 75m Hurdles.
