Results Round Up
This week we have results to round up for you from Gravesend, Stratford, Neath, Brecon, Yate, Cheltenham, Chepstow, Cardiff, Gateshead & Pembrey….
Belated congratulations to M35 Craig Jones who set a time of 35.48 for 10km at Cheltenham back on Sunday 13th June where he was joined by M50 Simon Brewer who finished in a time of 39.00, well done both!
Ifan Lloyd competed in the British Masters trail race championship at the North Downs 30km Trail Run , Gravesend back on Sunday 27th June. This was after running 10:00.84 for 3000m on the track in Newport the day before! He finished 13th overall in 2h8m06s out of over 508 starters, placing 1st in the M60+ category (margin of 20mins) and therefore 1st BMAF championships VM60-64 category.
Wednesday 30th June at Stratford, London SM Lemarl Freckleton set a lifetime best of 10.70 for the 100m, well done Lemarl!
Saturday 3rd July was a scaled down Welsh School Athletics Association Championships this year due to Covid 19. Only the U17 were included as this age groups performances progress to selection for the U17 British Schools International V England V Scotland V Ireland on 25th September at Derby. The event winners were guaranteed selection, with the second spot in each discipline being selected on Wednesday September 8th based, so plenty of time to get yourself back in the mix for selection if you missed out on Saturday. On 3rd July the Shot, Discus & Hammer were held at Neath with all other disciplines at Brecon. Seven Swansea Harriers won their events and now become Welsh Internationals, congratulations to Ruby Jones Hammer; Lucy Harris Discus, Chloe Jones Javelin, William Trott Pole Vault, Dylan Morgan Triple Jump, Megan Gwyther 80m Hurdles & Tiffany Rees 800m! Sunday 4th July was the Welsh Athletics 5km Road Race at Pembrey Country Park where the club had 19 members in action, congratulations to all those who took part. In the Men’s A race Joshua Griffiths had a fine win in 14.26 followed home by 2nd Dewi Griffiths 14.40; 15th Geraint Williams 15.51; 17th Craig Jones in 15.55; 19th Matthew Harvey in 16.09 and 21st Tom Attwood 16.26. In the Men’s B race first home for the club was 14th Ifan Lloyd 16.56; 21st Edward Cullen 17.18 and 31st Daniel Morgan 18.31. We had 3 finishers in the Mens C race with first home for us 3rd Simon Brewer 17:56; 6th Thomas Guest 18.08 and 11th Steve Smith 18.50. There was just the one race for the Women with a fine win for Caryl Edwards in a time of 16.54 followed home by 6th Helen-Marie Davies 19.10; 7th Llinos Jones 19.23; 12th Chloe Hartley-Green 20.08; 14th Sophie Hartley-Green 20.28; 18th Julie Hartley-Green 21.42 and 20th Jenny Mcadie 22.33
Saturday 3rd July was round two of four in the Senior Men & Women National Athletics League held at Yate. It was a very successful day for the team who came away with the win in their area! 1st Swansea Harriers AC 359.1 points, 2nd Bristol & West AC 350.9; 3rd Cardiff Athletics 320.7; 4th Yate & District AC 258.0 & 5th Yeovil Olympiads AC 147.5 points, after all four area results are combined you can Click here for the league table. This year only, clubs face the same opposition each round according to geography rather than all other 15 club, scoring is based on performance tables across the league rather than athlete positions at each match. Standings convert to round points – 16 down to 1 for each division – in order to ascertain overall league positions. No promotion or relegation will take place this season either. Wednesday 7th July was the Cheltenham Harriers open meeting where we had the two members in action; SW Carys Jones in the 100m rather than her usual pole vault recording a time of 12.9 and U15B Lewie Jones threw a 53.37m Javelin, well done both!
Saturday 10th July was the Welsh Athletics U11 Run Jump Throw open meeting where our U11 all stars had their first event of 2021, and in most cases their first event for the club ever! There top draw performances included:

Sunday 11th July was the Chepstow racecourse 10km & Half Marathon where we had one runner in each, M40 Daniel Otteson had a great run to finish a super second in a lifetime best of 80.41 over the half marathon and M35 Mark Rabaiotti matched this with a podium sport too in 2nd and in a lifetime best for 10km in 35.50, well done both!
Tuesday 13th July saw Joseph Brier finish 2nd in the 400m at The Diamond League at Gateshead in a time of 46.34! What a week it has been for Joseph too as he has been named as a traveling reserve for the 400m & 4 x 400m relays for the Tokyo Olympic Games! Our congratulations to Joseph from everyone at the club and we look forward to adding you to our hall of fame very soon! Also at Gateshead SM Daniel Beadsley ran in the Welsh Mens 4 x 100m team and Josephs sister Hannah ran in the Welsh 4 x 100m team both recording great team times of 39.36 and 45.25!
