Results Round Up

This week we have results to round up for you from Loughborough, Sheffield, Kenfig, Cwmbran, Lisbon PORTUGAL, Merthyr Tydfil, Manchester & Chester……

Saturday 11th March was the 5th and final round of the British Cross Challenge incorporating the UK Inter Counties Cross Country Championships at Loughborough where in very, very muddy conditions against many of the top UK cross country runners we had 10 athletes representing West Wales recording the following performances: U17W 123rd Sophie Hartley-Green; U15G 30th Libby Hale; 65th Millie Pierce; 106th Chloe Hartley-Green & 114th Ava Davies; U13B 195th Osian Morgan; U13G 246th Hannah Jones, well done everyone and enjoy cleaning those spikes! Saturday 11th March was the England Athletics U15 & U17 Combined Events Championships @ Sheffield where U17W Matilda Quick finished 10th overall in the U17W Pentathlon amassing 3243 points courtesy of a 9.14 60m Hurdles, 1.62m High Jump, 4.50m Long Jump, 11.80m Shot & 2.44.12 800m, well done Matilda!

Sunday 12th March was round 4 of 4 in the West Glamorgan Cross Country League at Kenfig Nature Reserve for our Senior runners, where in the Men’s race there was a fine win for Marc Hobbs, followed home by 6th Finely Hines; 8th John Moran, 22nd Alan Davies; 39th Anthony Jones & 84th Heath Brett. In the Women’s race first home for the club was 9th Helen-Marie Davies and our only other runner 15th Lois Woodward. Very well done them all, click here for the full results.

Sunday 12th March was the Welsh Secondary Schools District Sportshall Finals in Cwmbran Leisure Centre where Swansea Harriers were well represented amongst the Afan Nedd Tawe school pupils. Here is how they all got on:

U15G team placed 4th with the help of Seren Anderson-James, Holly Humphreys & Ruby Mills.

U15B team won BRONZE helped by Matthew Hines, Oliver Patterson, Oliver Sampson, Oscar Jones & Evan Lewis.

U13G team won BRONZE too and just missed out by 12 points from winning! Helped by Georgie-Bo Davies, Lauren Oshisanya, Ruby Hirst, Alice Caldwell, Leah Jaye-Sharp, Rutendo Chasweka, Carys Pritchard, Taylor Shelmerdine, Freya Birt & Tabitha Ventress-Brett.

Sunday 12th March was the Lisbon, PORTUGAL Half Marathon where Joshua Griffiths in very hot conditions had a great run whilst representing Wales to finish 28th in 65.40, well done Joshua!

Sunday 12th March was  the San Domenico 10 & 20 Mile Road Races at Merthyr Tydfil where all of our runners chose the long course of the 20 Mile race Geraint Williams had a great run to finish 2nd in 1.57.35 followed home by 15th Daniel Morgan 2.09.57; 39th Owen Davies 2.20.16; 113th & 29th Women Vanessa Harrigan 3.01.02. Well done everyone!

Sunday 12th March Thomas Payne runs a 7.06 for 60m indoors at Manchester, well done Tommy!

Sunday 12th March was the Chester 10km incorporating a Masters international where Matthew Harvey placed 26th in 33.22 whilst representing Welsh Masters, well done Matthew!
