Results Round Up & Joseph Brier
Preceding the latest results round up, as many of you will already be aware, we are thrilled to see that Joseph Brier has been included in the 4 x 400m squad formally for the Tokyo Olympic Games. Ensure that you have your televisions tuned in to the BBC this Friday 30th July at 12pm for the heat of the 4 x 400m (8pm Tokyo) hopefully Joseph will be in the starting line up and everyone will be cheering him on! The very best of luck from everyone at the club!
After a scorching hot week of weather we have results to round up for you from Cheltenham, Bedford, Aberdare, Cardiff, Nuneaton & Loughborough. There are a couple of matches we are awaiting the ratified results from, but we’ll have to catch up on these next time.
Wednesday 14th July saw U20W Cassey Grimwade throw 37.49m in the Hammer at Cheltenham.
Saturday 17th & Sunday 18th July were the England (UK) Senior Athletics Championships held at Bedford, we had just the three entrants this year with mixed fortunes. Lemarl Freckleton produced times of 21.98 for 200m in his heat and a best of 11.17 in his 100m heat; Hannah Brier was back to her very best winning GOLD in the 200m in one of her fastest ever times of 23.62 marginally quicker than her 23.66 in her heat, and Caryl Granville ran a great 57.54 in her 400m Hurdles heat but sadly pulled up injured in the final.
Saturday 17th July was round 2 of 3 in the U13 & U15 Youth Development League at Aberdare, we are awaiting the team scores but here is how the squad got on in sweltering hot conditions! Thanks to all those volunteers who made the fixture possible:

Sunday 18th July M35 Geraint Williams had a superb run to finish 2nd in the blistering heat at the Frome Half Marathon in a time of 76.07, well done Geraint!
Sunday 18th July Welsh Masters fielded a team in the England Masters Inter Area Match at Nuneaton; four Swansea Harriers were selected for Wales recording the following performances: M50 Paul Flynn was 6th in the 3000m 10:20.9; M60 Roderick Davies helped the team to 4 x 100m GOLD, was 4th in the Long Jump 4.00m Our National Athletics League senior mens team manager M70 David Jones ran 3rd leg in the 4 x 100m helping the team to 4th in 84.3, was 6th in the Shot 6.32m and M60 Chris Pruski won BRONZE in the Shot 8.12m. Very many congratulations to them all!
Tuesday 20th July was the Welsh Athletics throws open at Aberdare where U17W Lucy Harris 31.54m in the Discus; U20W Cassey Grimwade 42.60m in the Hammer and U17W Ruby Jones 39.92m in the Hammer too, well done to all three!
Wednesday 21st July was the Welsh Athletics throws and endurance open meeting at Newport and on Saturday 24th July the Welsh Athletics U11 & U13 Run Jump Throw at Cardiff, once ratified we’ll catch up on the results next round up.
Saturday 24th July SM Jonathan Hopkins ran a lifetime best of 3.50.13 over 1500m at the Loughborough BMC!
