Results Round Up

This week have results for you from, California USA, Loughborough, Stockholm SWEDEN, Nuneaton, Aberdare, Bromley and Exeter; seven athletes named in the Wales team for the Loughborough International plus an interview with club captain Caryl Granville.

Welsh Senior Vests:

Another seven Welsh Senior Vests have been awarded for club members this week for David Greene, Caryl Granville, Joseph Brier, Hannah Brier, Carys Jones, Daniel Beadsley and Steffan Jones who have all been selected for Wales in the Loughborough International on 23rd May V England, V Scotland V Northern Ireland V GB Juniors V Loughborough Students V British Universities! Very many congratulations to them all!

Caryl Granville Interview:

It’s been a tough road back for club captain Caryl Granville, but the Welsh hurdler has finally overcome an obstacle that threatened her athletics career. Now, she has two big targets to aim for over the next year as she tells Owen Morgan of Dai Sport, you can read the full interview here.

Results Round Up:

Saturday 15th May saw club superstar Verity Ockenden smash the club record for 5000m recording a time of 15.03.51 in Irvine, California, USA. The time also exceeds the Olympic Games qualifying time of 15.10.00, putting her very much in the mix for selection in Tokyo! Very many congratulations Verity on your first club record, a fine achievement indeed!

Wednesday 12th May at the Loughborough Open Meeting SM Jack Houghton ran a time of 23.52 in the 200m and 55.38 in the 400m Hurdles; U20W Carys Poole set performances of 28.21 in the 200m and 16.65 in the 100m Hurdles; SW Caryl Granville ran 58.04 in the 400m Hurdles, well done to all three on some great results.

Saturday 15th May U17W Hannah Kinane at the Danderyd Invitational in Stockholm, Sweden ran an impressive 2.13.32 over 800m, well done Hannah!

Saturday 15th May at Aberdare the club was well represented with 27 members participating in the Welsh Athletics Sprints & Throws Open Meeting where there were plenty of great early season performances recoded:

Shot: U20M Oscar Dun 12.27m; U17M Macsen Holland 11.90m; U20W Jamie Holland 11.21m; U20M Harley Thomas 10.93m and W40 Catherine Collins 6.59m.

Discus: U17W Lucy Harris 30.48m; U17W Katie Lake 24.52m and U15G Nele Owen 11.96m.

Hammer: U17W Rebekah Pratt 26.47m; U20W Emily Collins 26.21m; U17W Emilia Evans 21.70m and U15B Ben Fenwick 16.45m.

Javelin: SM Nathan James 55.66m; U20M Joshua Wilton 45.61m; SW Lauryn Davey 32.60m; U17W Chloe Jones 31.78m and U15G Carys Morgan 21.16m.

400m: SM Jack Houghton 52.16.

300m U15G Chloe Lewis 49.19.

200m U17M Evan Cole 24.60 and SW Gabrielle Fakande 25.40.

100m U20M Charlie Holland 11.59; SM Promise Bonibo 12.00; U15B Evan Morris 12.43; U15B Noah Mason 12.65; U17M Jacob Dowling 14.03 and U15G Sophie Taylor 15.53.

Sunday 16th May at Exeter SM Daniel Beadsley week gets even better after setting another very quick time and personal best of 10.52 for the 100m followed up by a 21.88 in the 200m, well done Daniel!

Sunday 16th May at Nuneaton was the Birchfield Harriers open meeting where some more very quick times were set by: SM Lemarl Frekleton 10.84 in the 100m; SW Hannah Brier 11.79 in the 100m and 24.28 for 200m; SM Joseph Brier runs 46.78 over 400m; SM Steffan Jones 49.28 for 400m and SW Caryl Granville 59.02 for 400m Hurdles.

Monday 17th May at Bromley SW Risqat Fabunmi-Alade runs a quick 11.86 for the 100m!
