Joint Welsh Schools & Welsh Athletics Quadrathlon & Pentathlons Entries

Sunday 5th November 2023 for those juniors who’d like to try and follow in the footsteps of Daley ThompsonDean MaceyKatarina Johnson-ThompsonJessica Ennis & Denise Lewis, are the joint Welsh Schools & Welsh Athletics Combined Events quadrathlon & pentathlons at Cardiff, CF23 6XD.

Instead of a Decathlon (10 events) or Heptathlon (7 events) the juniors compete in all of the four or five events outlined below:

U14G = school years 6, 7 & 8. Quadrathlon: Long Jump, Shot (2.72kg), 60m Hurdles (68cm) and 800m.

U14B = school years 6, 7 & 8. Quadrathlon: Long Jump Shot (3.00kg), 60m Hurdles (76cm) and 800m.

U16G = school years 9 & 10. Pentathlon: Long Jump, Shot (3.00kg), 60m Hurdles (76cm), High Jump & 800m.

U16B = school years 9 & 10. Pentathlon: Long Jump, Shot (4.00kg), 60m Hurdles (84cm), 200m & 800m.

U18W = school years 11 & 12. Pentathlon: Long Jump, Shot (3.00kg), 60m Hurdles (76cm), High Jump & 800m.

U18M = school years 11 & 12. Pentathlon: Long Jump, Shot (5.00kg), 60m Hurdles (91cm), 200m & 800m.

This is an open event; therefore, the parents enter the athletes themselves, as there is no team manager in a championship enter online here before the closing date of  11.59pm Thursday 26th October 2023, for those of you who would like to take part.

For those athletes in the U16 & U18 age groups there is the added incentive of Welsh Schools vests at stake for those that attain the points totals to go forward and represent Wales V England V Scotland V Ireland on Saturday 2nd December 2023. The international is being held in Cardiff this year, it’s usually in Glasgow, Scotland but the Emerites Arena is being refurbished for the World Indoor Championships.
