The annual club fixture list is starting to take great shape, remember to check it once a week as more fixtures are added as we work our way out of Covid 19. Keep rechecking the previously listed fixtures for links to the entry pages as and when they are available. For the next few months be prepared that most fixtures are across the border in England until restrictions are eased further for larger outdoor gatherings for sport in Wales.

Officials Update & Starter/Starter Assistant Qualification:

Swansea Harriers has a large team of very dedicated volunteer officials that help the club fulfil its commitments in all its league, cup and championship fixtures on and off track, home and away throughout the year. Christina Jones is our clubs officials coordinator and is the main point of contact for any new volunteer officials and all our existing officials. If you are willing and available to help at any of the clubs fixtures as a track judge, timekeeper or field judge, please contact Christina whose contact details are on the link above. Christina is currently in the process of rounding up officials for our Youth Development League and Senior Athletics League fixtures for this summer, if you can help the club out, please get in touch with Christina.

Even if you are only to help at a handful of events a year this makes a huge difference to the to the club. As luck would have it on Wednesday 12th May there is a UK Athletics Starter & Starter Assistant Officials qualification being held virtually from 6pm to 8.30pm which is free to attend. As a club we do really well for qualified officials, however the one thing we don’t have in the club is a qualified starter, so please consider booking on. Successful completion of the Level 1 Award for Starter/Starter Assistant Judge will enable individuals to work with other qualified officials as part of a team, assisting organising start of races communicating with athletes on the start line at athletics events.
