Weekly Update Tuesday 27th April

This week we have plenty of actual face to face results to report on for you where sixteen of our members have been traveling far and wide to try and find competitions, an interview with club stalwart and master extraordinaire Ifan Lloyd from Front Runner Events.

Results:

Sunday 18th April saw new member SM Ben Williams get his club debut off to the perfect start by winning the Dorney Lake Half Marathon in Windsor in a lifetime best of 71:47! Well done Ben on such a great result.

Wednesday 23rd April saw SM Kristian Jones compete in the elite only invitation 5000m at Cardiff where he set his second quickest time of his career to date in a very quick time of 13:49.33 to win the race, congratulations Kristian.

Wednesday 23rd April also saw SM Jonathan Hopkins and SM Steffan Jones compete in the Birmingham University Open meeting, where Jonathan finished 2nd in the 2000m Steeplechase in a time of 5:40.29 and Steffan placed 3rd in the 400m in a great time of 48.11 well done both!

Saturday 24th April was the Yeovil Olympiads open meeting where three of our junior girls were in action: U20W Emily Collins threw 27.75m in the Hammer, U17W Lucy Harris set marks of 28.03m in the Discus and 29.14m in the Javelin; and U15G Matilda Quick also doubled up with a 1.46m High Jump and a 9.83m Shot. Very well done to all three on some great season openers.

Sunday 25th April was the Shepperdine Full & Half Marathons at Berkley. In the half marathon having a great run to step onto the podium in 2nd was SW Emily Marchant recording a time of 1:22:15 and a lifetime best to boot!; Emily was followed home by W40 Llinos Jones in 19th 1:36:25; 134th SM Daniel Morgan 1:39:54 and 38th W50 Kelly Gipson 1:47:27. Over the full marathon distance we had two finishers; 37th M35 Steven Taylor 3:02:41 and 16th W45 Christine Webb 3:50:18. Well done to all five on what will hopefully be the first of many more races this year.

Sunday 25th April was the Cheshire Marathon in Pulford, where we had two members representing the club. First home was M35 Geraint Williams in 2:30:57 which was also a big lifetime best by almost 8 minutes and SM Matthew Rees in 2:32:36, well done both on some top times!

Sunday 25th April in Loughborough two days after his last race SM Steffan Jones on this occasion set another quick time of 48.22 for the 400m finishing 2nd, well done Steffan.

Sunday 25th April U15B Lewie Jones at Exeter records an excellent 13.23m in the Shot and a 39.51m in the Discus winning both events too, well done Lewie!
