Welsh U15 U17 & U20/Senior Inter Regional Championships @ Wrexham

The age groups are for the U15, U17 & U20/Senior age groups only.

The West Wales team will selected using the criteria below. Note the eligibility criteria where unlike the Youth Development League which is restricted to athletes from four clubs, anyone with West Wales eligibility can be selected regardless of club affiliation.

ATHLETE ELIGIBILITY:

To be considered for a West Wales Team athletes must have West Wales eligibility and be registered to their club & Welsh Athletics, in addition must have one of the following qualifications:

A – Birth; the athlete having been born in West Wales (Dyfed or West Glamorgan).

B – Residence; a minimum of 9 months continuous residence in West Wales immediately prior to this event.

AGE GROUPS & TEAM SIZE:

West Wales Regional Athletics Council will select two athletes in each gender in the following disciplines (four for relays):

U15G 100m, 800m, 75m Hurdles, Shot, Hammer, Javelin, High Jump, Long Jump, 4 x 100m Relay and 4 x 300m Relay.

U15B 100m, 800m, 80m Hurdles, Shot, Hammer, Javelin, High Jump, Long Jump, 4 x 100m Relay and 4 x 300m Relay.

U17W 100m, 800m, 3000m, 80m Hurdles, 300m Hurdles, 1500m Steeplechase, Shot, Hammer, Javelin, High Jump, Long Jump, 4 x 100m Relay and 4 x 300m Relay.

U17M 100m, 800m, 3000m, 100m Hurdles, 400m Hurdles, 1500m Steeplechase, Shot, Hammer, Javelin, High Jump, Long Jump, 4 x 100m Relay and 4 x 400m Relay.

U20W/SW 100m, 800m, 3000m, 100m Hurdles, 400m Hurdles, 1500m Steeplechase, Shot, Hammer, Javelin, High Jump, Long Jump, 4 x 100m Relay and 4 x 400m Relay.

U20M/SM 100m, 800m, 3000m, 110m Hurdles, 400m Hurdles, 2000m Steeplechase, Shot, Hammer, Javelin, High Jump, Long Jump, 4 x 100m Relay and 4 x 400m Relay.

SELECTION DATE:

The selection Panel will meet on Thursday 23rd May 2024.

SELECTION PANEL:

The International Selection Panel will comprise of the officers of the West Wales Regional Athletics Council.

SELECTION BASIS:

Selections for the West Wales team will be based on the following criteria:

• The winner of each individual event discipline in the U15, U17, U20 & senior age groups at the West Wales Championships on Sunday 12th May 2024 at Swansea will gain automatic selection https://data.opentrack.run/en-gb/x/2024/GBR/ww-outdoor24/

• The remaining team spaces will be selected on outdoor performances achieved between Friday 1st March 2024 to Wednesday 22nd May 2024 inclusive. These performances must have been ratified and appear on the power of 10 rankings website by 9am on Thursday 23rd May 2024.

ATHLETE NOTIFICATION:

Selected athletes will be informed by e-mail by Saturday 25th May 2024.

APPEALS PROCESS:

There shall be no right of appeal to the selection of the West Wales team made by the Panel.

AMENDMENT:

The West Wales Regional Athletics Council reserve the right to amend this Selection Policy at its sole discretion and will make any amended version publicly available.
