Results Round Up

This week we have results to round up for you from Worcester, Devils Bridge, Yeovil, Milan Italy, Birmingham, Hamburg Germany, Aberdare, Newport, Oderzo Italy and Cardiff, including our first all time club record of 2024

Thursday 25th April U17W Libby Hale runs 2.18.4 for 800m at Worcester, well done Libby!

Saturday 27th April was the Multi Terrain Red Kite Challenge incorporating the Welsh Championships and West Wales Championships at Devils Bridge, Ceredigion. In the Metric Half Joshua Morgan had a great run to come home in SILVER medal position, in the U18W Millie Pierce had a great run to win Welsh BRONZE & West Wales GOLD, well done both!

Saturday 27th & Sunday 28th April were the Somerset Combined Events and Race Walking Championships at Yeovil. Where we had our first all time club record broken by Matilda Quick who broke Julia Charlton’s 1982 U17W Heptathlon record with 4719 points from a 12.04 80m Hurdles, 1.65m High Jump, 12.93m Shot, 26.68 200m, 5.28m Long Jump, 31.25m Javelin & 2.43.75 800m, many congratulations Matilda!

U20M Evan Cole completed his first ever Decathlon for 7th with 5140 points from a 11.28 100m, 5.95m Long Jump, 8.88m Shot, 1.83m High Jump, 52.80 400m, 14.92 110m Hurdles, 13.43m Discus, 2.60m Pole Vault, 25.77m Javelin & 5.12.93 1500m.

U15G Tabitha Ventress-Brett was 5th in the Pentathlon with a 13.41 75m Hurdles, 7.79m Shot, 1.29m High Jump, 4.36m Long Jump & 2.37.78 800m and Lauren Oshisanya 8th with a 13.11 75m Hurdles, 7.78m Shot, 1.35m High Jump, 4.45m Long Jump & 2.58.42 800m.

SW Lauryn Davey completed 4 of the 7 events in the Heptathlon with a 25.92 200m, 14.87 100m Hurdles, 1.59m High Jump and 11.12m Shot.

Saturday 27th April SW Verity Ockenden runs 4.14.59 over 1500m in Milan, Italy, well done Verity!

Saturday 27th April SM Eli Onyewu runs a 22.37 for 200m at Birmingham, well done Eli!

Sunday 28th April SM Joshua Griffiths runs 2.22.08 for the Marathon in Hamburg Germany placing 22nd in a very competitive field, well done Joshua!

Sunday 28th April saw our U17 & U20 Youth Development League team in round 1 of 3 of the South/West Premiership at Aberdare, where we had a massive turnout from the team which was great to see, we are still waiting for the finalised team scores but think we were either 2nd or 3rd, congratulations and thanks to all our team managers, coaches and officials who were crucial to this result too. Sunday 28th April was the Newport 10km, Half Marathon & Marathon where again the club were well represented across all three distances. The 10km saw Dewi Griffiths step onto the podium in BRONZE with another sub 30 time of 29.51 and just behind in 4th was Jonathan Butler in 30.25, following them home were Matthew Verran 32.00, Sam Joseph 34.32 and Iona Evans 41.30 who was 11th in the Women’s race. In the Half Marathon Michael Bryant was home first in 1.16.36, followed by Alex Sutherland 1.21.32, Joanna Callan had a superb run to win the Women’s race in 1.22.48, Richard Sullivan 1.41.47 and Robin D’Arcy 1.48.20. Over the longest race in the Marathon Matthew Rees just missed out on a podium place coming home in 4th in a time of 2.31.16, then it was Charles Walsh 2.44.47, Thomas Morris 3.03.14, Owen Davies 3.05.19, Llinos Jones 3.07.53 was 7th in the Women’s race and Martin Kearns 3.30.39.

Wednesday 1st May U20W Hannah Kinane runs a 17.27 5km on road to place 12th in the Città Archeologica at Oderzo, Italy, well done Hannah!

Wednesday 1st May was a Welsh Athletics Open Meeting at Cardiff where we were well represented in the SW & U20M with: SW Gwen Lewis 10.71m Shot, Stefani Karekla 13.33 100m & 28.13 200m and Iona Hassanscott 15.23 100m. U20M Ben Fenwick 36.47m Hammer, Marek Warzocha 10.97 100m & 22.14 200m, Joseph Beresford 11.69 100m & 23.19 200m. Well done everyone!
