Results Round Up

This week we have results to round up for you from Watford, Swansea, Cheshire, Cardiff, Birmingham and Chepstow:

Wednesday 23rd August at Watford saw SM Eli Onyewu run a 22.05 for 200m and SW Megan Carter-Davies a 4.24.37 over 1500m, well done both!

Thursday 24th August at Swansea was the 5km On The Bay where our top five Men and Women home were. Men, taking a comfortable victory by more than a minute was Dewi Griffiths in a super quick 14.35, followed home by 2nd Finley Hines 15.40, 7th Andrew Cleverly 16.24, 9th Alfie Robinson 16.32 and 14th Marc Davies 17.27. Women; Emma Baxter matched Dewi by taking the win in 18.30 followed home by 2nd Chloe Hartley-Green 19.04 and 3rd Sophie Hartley-Green 19.09 making it a clean sweep of the podium positions, 7th Helen-Marie Davies 19.53 and 15th Iona Evans 20.31. Friday 25th August was the Mid Cheshire 5km incorporating a Wales V England Masters International where we had two runners representing Wales, M35 Matthew Rees finished 28th overall but fantastically was the 2nd M35 in 14.51 and M35 Matthew Harvey was 50th overall in 15.03 and agonisingly just missed out on an M35 medal placing 4th in this category in 15.08, congratulations to both on their international call ups. Also running representing the club was 157th Geraint Williams in 16.04, well done Geraint.

Saturday 26th August was the Welsh Athletics U20 International at Cardiff which saw five Swansea Harriers selected for Wales which was fantastic to see. Lucy Harris threw 42.11m for 3rd in the Discus, Samuel Davies was 2nd with 1.96m in the High Jump and Evan Cole 5th with 1.81m also in the High Jump, Marek Warzocha was 5th in the 200m with 22.89 and Chloe Jones was 5th in the Javelin with 36.95m. Also present competing as guest were Joseph Beresford who recorded a 57.59 for 400m Hurdles and Megan Stratton-Thomas was 5th in the 5000m Walk with a time of 28.51.99. Well done everyone on such a great set of results against some really tough opposition!

Saturday 26th & Sunday 27th August were the England Athletics U15 & U17 Championships held at Alexandra Stadium, Birmingham. It was great to see four Swansea Harriers obtain the tough qualifying standards and then go and compete against the very best juniors in the UK. U15G Libby Hale placed 4th in her 800m heat in 2.20.41; U15G Millie Pierce was 10th in her 1500m heat in 4.58.27; U15G Ruby Campion was 12th in the Pole Vault with 2.32m and U15G Alice Prosser also in the Pole Vault was 14th in 2.17m, well done all!

Sunday 27th August was the Severn Bridge 10km and Half Marathon, where in the 10km there was a great win for Matthew Rees coming home in 33.49, we had one other runner who was Jemimah Osborn-Nash who came home in 7th in a time of 44.05.  Over the Half Marathon we had three finishers Michael Bryant had a great run to get into the top 10 placing 8th in 1.18.34, just two places behind in 10th was Charles Walsh in 1.19.20 and Tori Barry placed 17th in 1.45.43. Very well done to all five!
