Results Round Up

This week we have results to round up for you from Cwmavon, Cardiff, Risca & New York, USA.

Sunday 5th November was the Richard Burton 10km at Cwmavon, where there was a great turnout from the club in this great local event, with our top five Men and Women home as follows, packing very well up the front end of the field:

Men: Dewi Griffiths had a fantastic run to win the race in 30.09, joining him on the podium was Jonathan Hopkins for 3rd in 31.40; 4th Jonathan Butler 32.00; 6th Guy Smith 32.20 and 8th Paul Tobin 32.46.

Women: also having a great victory was Caryl Edwards who crossed the line in 35.46, followed home by 3rd Hannah Williams 38.15; 4th Gemma Tutton 38.48; 9th Sophie Hartley-Green 41.23 and 16th Sharon Leech 43.47.

Sunday 5th November was the joint Welsh Schools & Welsh Athletics Indoor Combined Events at Cardiff, where our U14, U16 and U18 athletes competed across four or five events each depending on their age group. All athletes gained invaluable experience, very well done to them all, highlights included our top three athletes home in each event as follows:

U14G Quadrathlon (Shot, Hurdles, Long Jump & 800m) saw a BRONZE medal for Taylor Shelmerdine with 1931 points, 6th Freya Birt 1546 points and 9th Lucy Li 1315 points.

U14B Quadrathlon (Shot, Hurdles, Long Jump & 800m) saw Jack Griffiths in 4th with 968 points.

U16G Pentathlon (High Jump, Shot, Hurdles, Long Jump & 800m) 6th Eva Carver 2183 points, 9th Tabitha Ventress-Brett 2075 points and 10th Carys Pritchard 2073 points.

U16B Pentathlon (200m, Shot, Hurdles, Long Jump & 800m) 9th Matthew Hines 2242 points and 12th Rhys Francis 1578 points.

U18W Pentathlon (High Jump, Shot, Hurdles, Long Jump & 800m) saw a fantastic GOLD for Matlida Quick with 3560 points in a championship best performance too, 5th Rebekah Saunders 2277 points and 6th Natalie Coughlan 1882 points.

U18M Pentathlon (200m, Shot, Hurdles, Long Jump & 800m) 7th Aled Davies 2268 points.

Sunday 5th November was the very tough Twmbarlwm Terror 7 mile multi terrain race at Risca, where Gabrielius Stuokus came home in 15th, Owen Davies 19th, Diane Brownhill had a great run to place 4th in the Women, Caroline Morgan 7th and Angela Delaney 8th, well done everyone!

Sunday 5th November was the New York, USA Marathon where Simon Lewis finished in 134th in a time of 2.38.03, and Joe Tucker in 2764th (3.13.19) well done both!
