Results Round Up

This week we have results to round up for you from Cardiff, Battersea, Derby, Brittany France, Yate, Teforest, Bedford and Stratford, including another all time club and Welsh Record for Hannah Brier.

Wednesday 20th May was race 1 of 3 in the SSAFA 5km series in Cardiff, in competitive fields Marc Hobbs had a great run for 4th in 15.15, followed home by 6th U16B Oliver Cobbold 15.16, 7th U20M Josh Sanders 15.18, 18th Jamie Taylor-Caldwell in 15.42 and 45th U18M Evan Price 16.27 making our top five Men. In the Women’s race we had just the one runner with U20W Hollie Lewis coming home in 7th in a time of 17.23, well done everyone!

Friday 22nd May Dafydd Jones runs just 0.02 off his lifetime best for 5000m with a 13.49.67 at Battersea Comeback London open meeting, well done Dafydd!

Saturday 23rd May saw our newly promoted Senior Men & Women compete in the Premier Division National Athletics League Round 1 of 3 at Derby. This league is for the top 8 track and field club teams in the UK, and it was a tough introduction to the top table, but not unexpected against such talented opposition and high profile clubs. Nevertheless all those who turned out for the club performed fantastically well. It was a great experience for all our jumpers, throwers and runners against higher level competition. Unfortunately the team placed last on the day, had  it been for a couple more athletes being available to cover all the events, it could have been quite different. Thanks to all our team managers, coaches and officials who supported the day before and after, and of course to the whole team. Individual highlights included top 3 placings overall for:

Saturday 23rb May saw Joshua Griffiths pick up yet another Welsh Vest this time in the 26km Trail Race at Brittany, France, coming home with a BRONZE medal in 2.35.31, many congratulations Josh!

Sunday 24th May was the U18 & U20 Youth Development League Round 2 of 3 at Yate, after the great start in round 1 which was also held at Yate, where the team put in yet another solid performance holding onto 4th in the league table. As ever thanks to our team managers, officials and coaches who all supported the team who were marvellous not only covering several events each but also in terms of team spirit. Sunday 24th May was the the Treforest 10km where Rabab Rabab was our sole representative placing 65th in the Men with a time of 43.54, well done Rabab!

Sunday 24th May was the 16 Mile Sarn Helen Hill Race at Lampeter, we are awaiting the results.

Monday 25th May Harrison Walsh throws a 54.35m in the Discus to place 5th in the Jumps and Throws Festival at Bedford, well sone Harrison!

And finally we left the best until last, Monday 25th May SW Hannah Brier does it again, breaking her own all time club and the 44 year old Welsh Record for the 200m at Stratford, London, in a time of 22.79 after running a 100m of 11.38 earlier in the day, this was also the qualifying standard for the European Championships, Hannah is now the fastest Welsh Woman ever over 100m & 200m, born and bread in Wales, Welsh Speaking, in fantastic current form, competed in Wales all the way from U11 to Senior, showing juniors all over Wales how’s its possible to go all the way with hard work and dedication, you would of thought the ideal candidate to fly the flag for Wales in her third Commonwealth Games?
