Results Round Up
This week we have results to round up for you from Neath, Bedford, Aberdare and Porthcawl.
Monday 22nd June and Thursday 2nd July were the Afan Nedd Tawe U14 & U16 Girls & Boys team cup matches at Neath. In this schools event the top two teams rather than individuals progress to the Welsh Final at Brecon on Wednesday 8th July, where they are up against the best school teams from the other seven school districts in Wales, Dyfed, Eryri, North East Wales, Cardiff & the Vale, Glamorgan Valleys, Powys and South East Wales. Teams from YG Gwyr, Olchfa, Dwr Y Felin, and Cwm Brombil will contest the finals 22 & 02.07.26 ANT U14 & U16 CUP RESULTS
Friday 3rd until Sunday 5th July were the England Athletics U20 & Senior Championships incorporating the Combined Events Championships at Bedford, where 6 of our athletes were up against many of the very best athletes in the UK. SW Evie Aitchison placed 5th in her 400m Hurdles heat in 1.08.81, SM Freddie Steele has a fantastic weekend to make it all the way to the 100m final with his best time coming in the Semi Final with a 10.60, U20W Holly Humphreys was awesome picking up a BRONZE in the 3000m with a 9.47.72, SW Lucy Harris just missed out on a medal placing 4th in the Discus with a lifetime best of 48.45m, U20W Matilda Quick completed seven of the eight events in the Heptathlon recording a 25.66 200m, 14.26 100m Hurdles, 1.70m High Jump, 5.71m Long Jump, 12.50m Shot and 32.08m Javelin, Matilda chose not to contest the 800m after attaining the standard for the World Junior Championships earlier this season and proving her form and fitness at Bedford, she now has a nervous wait to see if she’s done enough to impress the GB&NI selectors and SM Samuel Davies picked up a super SILVER in the High Jump with a best of 2.10m. Very well done all on such a competitive set of results!
Saturday 4th July was the 77th Welsh Schools U14, U16 & U18 National Championships at Aberdare. There were plenty of Swansea Harriers selected for their school district teams, mainly from Afan Nedd Tawe, but a handful too for Dyfed, Glamorgan Valleys and Cardiff & the Vale. There were plenty of fantastic performances set despite the high winds. Individual highlights included medal winning performances set by:
- 11 GOLD U18M Tyler Davies 3.30m Pole Vault, U14B Theo Lewis-Wright 2.20m Pole Vault, U18W Lily Mitchell 10.21m Triple Jump, U18W Millie Pierce 4.56.87 1500m Steeplechase, U18W Ellie Dunleavy 2.50m Pole Vault, U16G Freya Birt 2.90m Pole Vault, U14G Lily Shubin 2.70m Pole Vault & 4.94m Long Jump, U14G Celine Adesanya 12.60 75m Hurdles, U16B Oliver Cobbold 9.11.33 3000m and U16G Katriel Udoh 5.55m Long Jump.
- 7 SILVER U16B Roman Jackson 39.91m Hammer, U14B Caden Lee Hopkins 15.57m Hammer, U18W Tabitha Ventress-Brett 1.14.62 400m Hurdles, U16G Katriel Udoh 44.92 300m Hurdles, U16G Isabelle Lawley 5.18.78 1500m Steeplechase, U16G Rutendo Chasweka 12.61 80m Hurdles and U18W Violet Snelgrove 11.06m Shot.

Sunday 5th July was the Porthcawl 10km where we had 12 finishers, our top three Men home all had superb runs t break into the top 10, first home taking the SILVER medal was Dewi Griffiths in a quick 29.55, just behind in BRONZE was Jonathan Butler in 30.12 and 7th Matthew Verran in 31.32. In the Women’s race our top three were, 13th Luticia Thomas 41.43, 145th Eleanor Titley 50.48 and 2085th Bethan Dowding. Well done all!
