Results Round Up

This week we have results to round up for you far and wide across the World including Transylvania Romania, Warsaw Poland, Elba Gowerton, Richmond USA and Cardiff

Firstly congratulations to Hannah Brier who was awarded the National Athletics League Female Track Athlete of the Year! Hannah ran a personal best time of 52.23s for 400m for victory in Woodford Green, which is just over half a second shy of the all-time league record of 51.70s. The award is decided by the best performance according to World Athletics point-scoring tables across the three rounds of the season.

Saturday 12th to Sunday 13th September M55 Paul Flynn represented Ireland in the European Masters Off Road Running Championships held in Rasnov, Romania in the heart of beautiful Transylvania region where he won team SILVER in the main rand placed 7th overall and also placed 12th in the uphill race! Congratulations Paul!

Sunday 27th September Fergus Claridge runs a 2.53.29 in the Warsaw Poland Marathon, well done Fergus!

Wednesday 30th September saw the Afan Nedd Tawe Schools U14 to U20 Cross Country at Elba, Gowerton. Over 600 pupils finished the races where the weather was kind, until the end of the last race. It was great to see so many of our juniors representing their school teams, including several of the throwers, jumpers and sprinters that will do anything to get out of lessons! Friday 2nd October U20W Millie Gold now in Elon University in the USA finishes 6th in a 6km cross country race at Richmond, Virginia USA, well done Millie!

Sunday 4th October was the Cardiff Half Marathon incorporating the Welsh Half Marathon Championships. With 29,000 runners in was hard to find all the names from the club, but if we have it correct, our top 5 Men and Women home were: In the Men’s race first home was Matthew Verran crossing the line in 38th with a 1.09.17 followed home by 49th Matthew Rees in 1.10.55, 53rd Geraint Williams in 1.11.35, 182nd Patrick Tudor 1.1739, and 242nd Craig Jones in 1.19.09 completing our top 5 Men. In the Women’s race first home was 63rd Luticia Thomas in 1.27.21, following her home were new member Nell Johnson with a time of 1.37.31 for 247th, 86th Kristy Smith in 1.31.38, 109th Emily Smith in 1.32.36, 149th Llinos Jones in 1.35.54.
